4.0 V6 D/Cab noisy back seat

Post by oxydog »

Hi,

It seems the back seats of my 4.0 V6 D/Cab (bought only last week) don't lock properly. The latches hook over the brackets but there is a gap so that, when I change gears, the seat moves and makes an irritating noise. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Regards,
Jarus

Thanx guys, especially like Steve's solution ;). Think I'll ask Toy to fix it for me like Mark suggested.

Fit some soft rubber buffers to the rear cab wall that keeps the seat under 'tension' when latched .... no more rattles. ;-)
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

I tried the piece of hose over the eye as a first option ... over a few years I had to try different hoses ... rubbers, plastics and they all failed with opening and closing the seat. If you don't use the space behind the seat for things that you need to access regularly then it's an option, but if you're in there every other day, the hose over the eye doesn't last. That's why I eventually made and fitted my own silicone rubber buffers. These were on the "missing" Lux, and I didn,t take any pics, but I'm sure you can get the idea. ;-)

I had exactly the same problem. (2009 model DC) The best solution is to cut half of the catch off. (+- 40-45mm inner catch left) I will try to post some pics. Then either put some rubber hose around it or just some insulation tape (I went the insulation tape route- a lot) No more problems and the back seat can now open. There's a lot of extra space behind the back seat that was previously unavailable

   Quick 'n easy. Do the cutting of the hooks. It opens up the rear for storage and easy replacement of the vibration damper tape when it goes again

:beach:

I had the same problem, tried wrapping the eyes in Duct Tape, taht didnt work so lekka cos it just ripped it up when the seat is in place.
I eventually used vice grips, grip the eye on the rear wall and bend it ever so slightly up, this causes a tighter fit when the seat is replaced and no more rattles. Worked for me
