Mana Pools
We visited Mana Pool in Zim before Moegoe started his nonsense and we loved it, most probably because of the remoteness and the fact there was no fences. Was chased by elephants three times. This was just before the culling in 99/00. The veld was badly damaged by the groot ore.
Has anyone visit Mana Pools lately and what is the status of the park…….? Is there any animals left in the park?

Re: Mana Pools
Cant wait to go to Zim again. The problem with Mana pools is once you camp in a wildernis area. Everything else seems boring. They have very little rules ,no loud music, no firearms, no fresh fruit you must camp in your allocated spot and fires must be made in the allocated fireplaces. There is no fences ,Elephants and Hippos walks through the camp at night o ja you are allowed to fish there as well.
The whole expiernce was just mindboggeling. It just shows you if you if you dont behave like a hooligan you can live in peace with nature.

Re: Mana Pools
Mana - it is the ultimate bush experience. My first visit to Mana was 27 years ago, followed ny three other visits. Each was a unique experience.
Besides elephant, which you always have, we have had lions, a lepord, hippo and buffelo in our camp; what more could you ask for?

>Hayenas and Cheetah?
Hyena; They are a problem in the main camp, however we have always got onr of the remoter bushcamps and they never hasseled us.
Cheetah: no cheetah at Mana Pools. Nor are there any giraffe - there are no giraffe in the Zambezi valley.
Why I do not know!

Re: Mana Pools
Harold, I agree awsome experience(Mana Pools). Would love to go backfor a few visits more. Had some close encounters with an Hayena in Letaba camp in Kruger, Jackall in Kalgadi and elephants in Mana and Swange (Old Wankie national park) and Oryx in Sesriem and a couple more. I would like it if SA get one or two parks with no camp fences - not refering to bush camps either.

Niel: Was I the only one that held my breath when we had those Ellie charges.
Harold: Come to think of it I did not see any Giraffe in the area. Do you perhaps know why?
