Can you believe in only five weeks it is Christmas and in 43 days it is New Year?

We have had quite a few calls from individuals and companies who offered to buy the children from Angel’s Place Christmas gifts and we as management and the children truly appreciate it. In the process we don’t want the children to be spoiled to the stage where they don’t appreciate the gifts any more and the true meaning of Christmas is just fading in their minds.

Most of the children are writing exams at the moment. I’ve noticed that most of them have no idea how to study properly and that their school marks are poor to average. I have phoned around for advice on how to help the children and I came across two study centres that present a course in study methods. This course is highly recommended by Dr Arina Lanser, an educational psychologist. The one study centre usually asks R900 per child for a nine-week course but is prepared to ask us R600 per child, and the other ask R750 and will ask Angels Place R500 per child. (See the attached quotes). Our intention is to send the children on the study methods course in January 2011.

May we offer a suggestion? If any of you feel in your heart that you would like to give an Angel’s Place child a Christmas gift, please consider making an investment in their future by donating towards the study method course. The children have enough to eat, have clothes to wear, have warm beds to sleep in and have the privilege to go to school, but please help us to give them a tool in their hands to create a better future by sending them on the study methods course so that they may learn to take responsibility for their schoolwork and to improve on their marks.
