Vote for it: Import SFA vs Local SFA
Hi guys,
Want to start an interesting poll for 1 week. Which SFA bakkie do you like (looks wise)
The two types being the local model (lights below tailgate) and the import (lights on the load-bak)
Please oakes, 1 vote per person....... not like the poll on sa4x4 where you could vote 10 times

I prefer the local bin because the tail lights are not as exposed and therefore less easily damaged.

Simple... the import is the original! Local is a copy!
Technically the import is around 200kg's lighter as well!

Hehe...Yes "B" , so you agree that the local bin is a more HEAVY DUTY, IMPROVEMENT on the import. Like an offroad bumper replacing the original piece of tin or plastic. LOL!Mr_B wrote:Simple... the import is the original! Local is a copy!

Both look nice, each having it's own aesthetic merits, but given the choice I would opt for the local bin.

Mr. B, you sure about this? That would mean the Import Bin weighs practically nothing at all! The entire DC load bin probably doesn't weigh more than about 250kgs or so, if even that...

I'll get the exact figures from Hoppy, but in total weight the import Hilux is considerably lighter than the local...

My 1st Lux had an import bin, and I preferred the tailgate mechanism (very usefull when you have your hands full). I also found the reverse lights to be much more effetive than those on the local bin. So my vote goes to the import bin.

Import all the way!!! Haven't really seen a import bin with a damaged lip (Tail lights area on the local bin) where the towbar has pushed up into the load box as with the local bin when using a highlift jack or off roading.

Re: Vote for it: Import SFA vs Local SFA
I'd say with the score at 21 import vs 28 local... import wins...
Why? Remember the import was only sold from around 86' to 89'... the local one sold from 89' to 98'... IIRC... 3 years vs. 9 years in the market...
Therefore 1 import vote = 3 local votes...
Therefore as it stands import wins 63(handicap) vs 28 votes... logical ne' Eric!

It's amazing how some folk will try all sorts of underhanded tricks like twisting the truth and misrepresenting the statistics, when they're on the loosing end, nê!!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Definetly Import.
If the local is improved then why all the newer hilux tail lights on side like the import.
Toyota realised they made mistake with local and changed back to import style. he he

Re: Vote for it: Import SFA vs Local SFA
For this exact reason that I am voting for Import. And because I am now the current owner :-)the BuTch3R wrote:My 1st Lux had an import bin, and I preferred the tailgate mechanism (very usefull when you have your hands full). I also found the reverse lights to be much more effetive than those on the local bin. So my vote goes to the import bin.
SFA named Roy has arrived. Let the games begin!
