3.4 Prado or Cruiser (80)
This is one for F_D and B:
Which is better?
Prado 3.4 (like Pradog) or LandCruiser 80?
will be used primarily as family vehicle and for holidays and camping trips - some into Africa
let the debate begin....

I'm biased... first the SFA hilux... then the Prado... then the IFS 2.7/KZ... then LC80... even though the LC80 is an awesome vehicle... just personal preference!

Thanks B
I agree with you on the Lux esp the SFA - thats why I have one but space becomes a bit of an issue when you have 3 kids a pram and shopping - hence the Prado or the LC80. I have always liked the idea of a cruiser but (and I'm sticking my neck out here) found the LC guys to be a bit arrogant, where the 'Lux guys are some of the nicest guys I have ever met.
BTW I consider a Prado to be more of a 'Lux then a cruiser :)

Richard, with 80 or the Prado, you will have less packing space.....

The older Prado's share the same platform as the Hilux... so yes they are more of a Hilux! The newer models may too, but I'm not sure!

Re: 3.4 Prado or Cruiser (80)
I was initially very keen on the LC, either an 80, 100 or 105. Nut I have absolutely no regrets after buying PraDog, this is such a wonderful vehicle! I have no intention of exploring the Moon, so the LC's might have been a bit of an overkill for me. The Diesel cruisers are solid as a rock but not that nippy, the petrol engine, specifically the EFI, is a beaut but fuel economy is not its strong point.
The new Prados are too full of bling and look like overgrown plastic Dinky Toys (ummm... anyone else know what these are??) while the older Series 90 Prado just looks more rugged and is not quite as full with electrotrickery as its descendants.
Would I swap PraDog for a 80 LC? Well, much as I would still like a LC, the answer is NO! Comfort, style, power, safety - the older PraDog has it all!

Dinky Toys were die-cast models that kids of my age used to collect. They cost something like 50c each then, which must have been an awful long time ago because I see they have an even higher resale price now than a Hilux! They even advertise spares for Dinky Toys on one of the sites below.

I couldn't find a Hilux Dinky Toy :sobbing:

Horses for courses - what you want to do with it, will determine what you wanna buy. I have a Prado and I am of the opinion that it will go any place an eighty goes and MORE - but some of the 80 owners will tell you it's the best Cruza ever !!!
