Some great places to camp in Caprivi and Western Bots

Some spots we stayed at:
Ghanzi - Thakadu camp (just before Ghanzi) - great camping spot in the middle of the bush. Also have basic and luxury tents if you don't want to camp. Owners are great and they also have a restuarant and pub with some great food if you don't want to braai. Camp sites have electricity as well - ablutions not bad. Can book, but should be able to get in without.
Ghanzi is a good spot to stock up - nice super-markets - good butcher - etc
Travelling North from Ghanzi - get a permit at the first vet fence for your meat or it will be confiscated further on. with a permit no problem at all.
Drotsky's Camp (near top of Panhandle, west side) - great camping sites - borders on the river - ask for a site with a view of the river. great place to take a boat ride, do some tiger fishing and birds are good. Also has a restuarant, but we didn't eat there. Has chalet accomodation as well - didn't see inside. Camp sites have electricity as well - ablutions fair. Need to book.
Seronga - Mbiroba Camp - community campsite - fairly basic - wouldn't rush back there, but is a great place to use as a springboard if you want to do a Mokorra trip into the swamps. If you do go don't travel to or from on a weekend as the pont gets busy then. Basic super market nearby, but don't rely on for meat. Ablutions not great, clean but water erratic. Loos fine. No need to book.
Nambwa Camp (a Nacobta camp on west side of Kwando River) - fantastic camp on the river - elephants came through at night, hippo sound all night. Ablustions great - can have a conversation from the shower, while the others are washing the dishes - sounds wierd, but made it special. Nice hot donkey boiler lit every morning and evening. No electricity. Also in a great game area - soft sand and lots of water. On way in need to get permit on the Northern side of the B8. Book if in school holidays.
Malyo - great camp site above Mdumo reserve - cross a rickety wooden bridge to get to a camp with nice grass banks next to the river. Uncrowded, great ablutions and very friendly staff. Nice hot donkey boiler lit every morning and evening. No electricity. Good place to use if you want a bit more luxury than camping in the park which you can do. No need to book. Need to buy food before you get here.
Mdumo reserve - the camp sites are in the middle of nowhere on the rivers edge so great from that perspective, but there is nothing else except a long drop so you need to be self sufficient. location absolutely stunning - try and get the site furtherest from the park HQ. No need to book.
Mamilli reserve - further south from Mdumo - an absolute must as very pretty, but DON'T go alone as you will get stuck at some stage. Too wet when we were there, although they do have one route in at the moment, but there is camping very close to the park and in the park as well. In the park is very basic (under the tree as it were). Outside the park do have ablutions. No need to book. For those that don't know there are now some serious bridges over the old log bridges that we have see in the 4x4 magazine.
Kwando Camp - nice spot, but give it a miss.
Ngepi Camp near Popa Falls and Mahango Game Park - really special. The reserve is also worth visiting. Also take a boat trip and do some fishing, game spotting and birding. Toilets are very unusual, but great. Camping - make sure you get a site on the river. they also have great platform huts and bush huts - open to the elements on one side - very nice. Also a restuarant and bar, but we didn't try it.
