VHF Aerial mounting Question

Post by JohanM »

Uncle Eric,

I would like to know what would the possibility be of mounting a VHF Aerial on my SFA in the following way/scenario....

I am in the process of looking around for a aluminium roofrack to fit onto my SFA. The roofrack will not be permanently installed as I sometimes do not need it for packing space on shorter trips.

I was thinking of the possibility of using a magnetic mount aerial that would mount onto a aluminium plate of about the size of a 31" tyre that would mount over the 2nd spare wheel when the tyre and roofrack is fitted.

When the roofrack and equipment is removed from the roof I can then mount the Aerial in the centre of the roof.

Surely this would be the best tradeoff other than drilling holes in my truck which im not a fan of....... :shh:

Lots of "Uncle Erics" here... ;)

Neef Johan, fit a Zara60 pillar mount permanently and Bob's (also) your "Uncle" (Pun intended).

Magnetic antennae will not work with aluminium.

Refer the new Radio Pages to get more info on the antenna.
