what time are us 'marshalls' from the (greater) durbanville, kraaifontein and brackenfell going to ride - are we going to do the convoy thing - the reason I ask is I will be traveling at about 100kms/h as thats what gives me the best consumption and I am not sure of how long it takes to get there?

Dis 'n great idee, ek sal dit Dinsdagaand by die meeting met die organisers noem. Hopelik speel hulle saam

Ek gaan nou seker die vark in die verhaal wees maar, here goes. Ek voel dit is bietjie onregverding om vir iemand R200 te vra om n rekord poging aan te vat. Die tipe advertensie wat Toyota hier sal uit kry is groot , en nou moet ek betaal daarvoor. Daar is n paar mense wat ek ken wat nou nie meer wil saam gaan nie. Wat as jy n jaar permit het vir Atlantis , mag jy nog ingaan en deelneem ? Miskien is ek verkeerd , help my reg asb. !!!!!

Morne jou stelling sal seker n paar manne dwars in die krop steek, tog het ek self n paar keer in daai rigting gedink .... maar as n marchall gaan ek nie betaal nie, so toe wou ek nie stir nie.

Stuart, most of the details are in the thread, but I will make a complete post with all the final arrangements as soon as we get them. There are maps of how to get to Atlantis elsewhere on the forum.

Putting on a record attempt of this nature is quite an adventure, i must tell you.
i note some grumbling about registration fee. Unfortunately it is necessary. Good news is that it is charged per vehicle only and not per person. Considerable value will be received in return.

We are experiencing such strong interest in this Hilux record attempt that we are starting to consider a cut-off number. Do make sure you are registered, as entry and participation will be restricted to pre-registered participants. Please tel me what this "considerable value will be received in return" is so I can convince all the Hilux owners who I invited , to reconsider and join me for the day.

Not wanting to throw a spanner in the works, but a few of my friends also believe the fee is excessive... a normal Atlantis permit is R100... and we will have to pay for our own drinks/food... etc... what I'd really like to know is where will the funds raised be used... is it for the coffers of the 4WDC-WC ... or will the profits be donated to a charitable organisation?

Responding to entry fees, the "strange phenomenon" of cut-off limits on a record attempt and what will be offered.
Entry Fees: An event like this costs, so over and above what the sponsorships cover, the fee will be utilised to offset costs (access, security, logistics, etc.). If funds are left over to strengthen the coffers of the 4WDC-WC, then that will be wonderful.

Cut-Off Limits: We do have limits on the numbers we can handle, starting with something as elementary as limited time to get all the vehicles through the gates and parked properly. That said, we are confident we can handle plenty.

What will be offered: Snack packs, entertainment, including kiddies’ fun, displays, Off-road personalities and so on. Most importantly, a chance to be part of something really unique in a really stunning setting.

To those who complained about R200
- Toyota SA put in excess of R65K up in prizes in lucky draws, you can't win it if you ain't in it.
- Arctic trucks and Toyota Racing trucks are on hand to do demonstrations and there will be opportunities for a selected few to have a ride in them. Lucky draw will determine this.

To those who want to sneak in:
You will be escorted out of the dunes.

To those who want to attend
This is going to be BIG!! We're looking forward to seeing you there.

Ek kan nie wag nie. Dit gaan mooi wees!

Riaan, die presiese take is nog nie uitgesit nie, maar daar is 3 areas waar ons gaan werk.

Jobs:
1) Entrance gate - Om seker te maak al die voertuie se bande is op 1Bar en die regte vorms is ingevul en die kar kry 'n amptelike nommer.
2) Demarkated Route - Om seker te maak al die voertuie bly op die vasgestelde roete, en dat die verkeer vloei, en dat enigiemand wat dalk sou vassit weer mobile gemaak word.
3) Parking Lot - Om seker te maak elke voertuig is op die regte plek geparkeer, en dat elke voertuig wel toegerus is met 'n amptelike nommer, en om ander voertuie (die wat ingeskelm het) te escort uit die duine uit.

Na 3pm wanneer al die lugfotos geneem is en almal klaar getel is, moet die voertuie uit die duine uit ge-escort word, voor 5pm, sodat die 4WDC-WC hulle voorbereidings kan tref vir die Fun Day die Sondag.

Daar gaan ongelukkig nie kans wees om in die duine te speel op die dag nie, Toyota SA verwag 700 voertuie daar.

NOTE:
if you put your name up as a Marshal just to avoid paying the registration fee, this is your opportunity to pull out. This is going to be hard work, from 6 am till 5 pm. The spin-off of all this hard work is that if we manage to pull our weight we can put the Hilux Club on the map, and prove that we are also able to host/organise big events in the future. This is good exposure no matter how we look at it.

My lux is gebreek en ek is banja upset. Hy loop nog maar mag dalk nie toegelaat word om daar te speel nie. sal baie beslis baie aandag trek maar wil nou nie die kollig vat nie

How many soccer players can fit into an old Hiux?
While going to Sani pass last weekend, I watched an entire soccer team get into the back of an old Hilux at Underberg. They call themselves Franklin Barcelona fc, and was friendly enough to then get out and back in for the camera.
