Eric, awsome idea and it looks peaceful and very nice (I will have to keep count of the surprised you have up your sleeve - heheheh). We can surely make a plan.

Niel, that's one of the few nice spots we have here! Now, just behind those trees on the opposite side of the river bank is a great big ugly Mine Dump, which can be seen during the winter but disappears with all the growth during the summer. To the left of the boat is a bridge crossing the river, over which the Mine transports ore by train. Quite distracting in the middle of the night when one tries to catch some shuteye and the loco driver lets off with a big "TOOT", actually sounds more like "BLEEAAAHHHHHHHH". But it is still very pleasant and a nice break from normal life.

Eric, since we normally have drinks at these get together we will have to arrange for transport do you know someone with a farm truck (skaap of bees lorry) to transport the guys

I hope that in the future the group from CT will travel to some of the other regions and visit our other Hilux friend on the forum....

How abought we do a collection for them at this drinks evening. No donation too big or too small I believe and you are not forced to contribute (but the Hilux guys I have met will definitely donate I am sure because you are all great bunch of guys).

I spoke to Mariana from Tierkloof 4X4 and can provide the following feedback.

The cost did go up but they will charge us the old rate of R100 pv for the trail,
The same apply for the camping old rate of R50 pv of 4 people i.e. 4 persons in 1 vehicle = R 50 - they are in the process of planting grass and providing electricity (Will not be done by the 26th)
There are trees in the camping areas and no grass yet,
The ablutions facilities consist of 2 sides (m&f) with 2 showers, 2 flushing toilets, 2 washbasins on each side with a donkey for hot water
We can braai with gas at the top of the trail but not open fires.
Bring your own wood and braai grids.
There is no build braai place.

How to get there:
N1, thru the tunnel and take the first Rawsonville turnoff (way bridge) continue approximately 12 km until you get the Rawsonville turnoff on the right follow the road to the stop at the SAP station. Turn right and continue down the main road exiting the town cross the bridge and continue for 7km until you see the Tierkloof signs and FOLLOW THE THAT.

Mariana asked me to confirm the number vehicles for the day, a week before we get there. If we are abought 10 vehicles they will close the route down for us and not allow other on the trail for the day. We can also have a swim in the Brandvlei dam on request but there is no shade and umbrellas is recommended
