Has anyone been to Koningskop campsite and 4x4 trail near Citrusdal? Looks like a nice getaway for the whole family (including RoyToy
).

Just returned from a 3 day stay at to Koningskop campsite and I'm very impressed with the setup over there. The site is very clean and well kept. The owners are extremely friendly and accomodating. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a nice, comfortable getaway with the family for a few days.
Some pics....
The Cederberg mountains provide a stunning backdrop to the campsite.
There is "gentle" 4x4 trail on site, suitable for the whole family, including those who are a little faint hearted. Mostly Gravel with a bit of sand and rock here and there. The terrain is very interesting and changes as you ascend. The wildlife we encountered along the way (bokkies, lizards, tortoises, dassies, birds) just added to the kids' excitement. The views from the top are breathtakng.
more pics...
I'll had a few more pics later on...

nog 'n paar kiekies.........
Roy having a peek over the edge.
sporting a forum tattoo on his left bum cheek 8 )
This little descent with the cliff's edge at the bottom can get the heart pumping a little..
same descent from the opposite angle. Another tight squeeze between the rocks
A nice little S-shaped descent....Roy's turning circle JUST made it past with millimetres to spare...
I'll definitely be returning to this site in future. This time I'll tackle the other trail they have on the opposite side of the mountain. Apparently a little bit more challenging
. Mr B, I'll let you know when

Distance from CT about 200kms. Took us just over 2 hours including 1 or 2 stops. Lots of long uphills along the way, especially just as you drive past Malmesbury. That 4Y mine had to really
haal uit en wys, ala "the little engine that could".
Funny story......we left after work, around 5pm, so it was dark by the time we arrived. I misunderstood the directions the owner had given me to the camping are, and ended up taking a wrong turn.
So here we are, driving up this narrowing road, the dongas are getting bigger and bigger, I've got a fully loaded citi golf, a corolla with standard trailer and a sporty jetta V5 following me up this gravel path which is deteriorating steadily, the further we get. I'm stoppping every few meters to check that my followers are still ok and that all their body panels are still in place. Off course the guys are confirming that they are managing just fine, their wifes were not convinced. We eventually decided that I would go ahead a distance to check things out..........just as well I did, as the road just got much worse. Turns out, the road we took is the last stretch of the other 4x4 trail
. The platkarre had to reverse a way down and managed to turn around in a more level are. Quite an exciting start to our weekend.
