I get up every weekday at 4:45 to cycle to work (20km each way). I work a solid 9 hours before cycling back. On weekends I lay in a little bit and only get up at 5:00 before I go for 60km rides.

If I was alone I would be the first one there.

Here is a better list:
A. Im moer scared of the SO
B. I dont wear the pants
C. The SO loves her sleep
D. SO`s tend to take a little longer from wake up to leaving the house.

Ok guys I'm really sorry for doing this... Looks like I won't make it anymore. As some of you are aware we had a little one last week and so family from afar can only come and visit the Saturday...

I have also run into some personal challenges and will not be able to make it either. My apologies if this upsets the planning!

The good news is that soon these challenges will be something of the past and I'll be active with the events again!

Unfortuantely Boet has been forced to pull out of the event due to the broken engine mounts which will not be ready by the weekend. Sterkte Boet.

Shaun dropped it off for me at a place yesterday but they only do cutting of rear side shafts so they gave me a number for a place that can do the front. Contacted them and arranged with Shaun to drop it of for me when he gets a chance. Can't get hold of the correct part number from Toyota but they are looking.

But I will be competing with my f-i-l's van.

Got my recovery points sorted. For the front I got the normal hooks and for the rear I had to make my own recovery point. Take a look, what do you think?

Thanx to a great club, with great members!
I really enjoyed the day for a special cause.
The club members/drivers had deep pockets to support the cause(I think the crowd got tired at one stage of "hilux4x4club" being called, as draws were called out due to the number raffle tickets we bought).
Thanx to all the organisers from the club a huge

to you.
Special thanx to neil(thunder02) for being my co-pilot at such short notice, great fun.

It all went as planned....

O and we cleaned the slate with the raffel tickets....

A huge congratulations to all that participated. Let's just say this, we were noticed

We as club took second place overall

But in particular:

Danie de Klerk (Danman) & Neil Gerber (Thunder02) - 1st Overall Longwheel base

Johannes van Schalkwyk (Jaans) & son - 2nd Overall Longwheel base

Shaun Niemand (Jeepie) - Fastest time on the drag strip (aka sandpit) - IIRC it was 5.9s

And then just to rub salt into the wounds, Danie (Danman) won the first prize in the raffle as well, a Town and Country trailer to the value of R10 000.

A huge thank you too all that was there. It was a fantastic day and I am proud to be associated with a great bunch of people that are the Hilux Club.

And also a huge thank you to Chane, Kiara for manning our stall while the rest of us braved the obstacles.

And a huge thank you to the organizers of the event. Everything ran like clockwork. All in all an amount of over R100K where raised for the Reach for a Dream foundation

I will be posting the score sheets as soon as I received them

Neil (Thunder02) was also so nice to borrow me his GoPro for the day. Will post a link to Youtube in the near future for all too see.

PS: All the prizes we won through the raffle on the day will be going into a raffle to raise some more funds for the reach for a dream foundation

i just want to say thanx to all that where there
that includes the participants and the assistantants

i also want to say that thanks for the guys that nominated me as team captain , you guys performed well and i think we had a descent result.
i would definately accept the appointment again

to danie and johannes , for 1st and second places , gents well done .pat yourself's on the back.
and incase nobody knew , johannes did the course with his young son as his copilot.

i won the dragstrip race in the sandpit , smoked the guys brocken. just goes to show the JEEP with a hilux sticker can.
my closest contender was a jk wrangler unlimited from 4x4 community team.

we need to please , next year have as many members from the hilux club there , even just as spectators.
its not just about the fund raising , but the spirit and fun involved , support for each other and our club.
we have the numbers and the capability of showing the other clubs who we are , what we stand for and that we can.

we did a great job this past weekend in regards to letting people know who we as a club are , and what we stand for .
the land rover club bought R800 raffle tickets and within 5 min we had R900 tickets paid for .
at the close of the raffle , we had bought R1040 worth of tickets.
when the draw was called , one of our members took 1st prize (in his personal name - danman danie who won the long wheel base section of the competition too)
thereafter it was just hilux , hiulx , hilux , hilux. we had to take turns going to collect prizes
the rest of the teams didnt know what hit them.

again , big thanks to cassie , uncle eric (sponsor for fund raiser) and the members that attended

makes me PROUD to be part of this club , even thou i still drive a jeep !

Couldn't have said it better shawn.

One of the best categories was won by the Nissan club - best team sprit.
A very BIG congrats to them.
I think we should set our sights on that one next year, have as many as possible club members there to show their support to the club and most importantly the cause.
The stands were mainly supported by the drivers and their families. Seeing as a lot of these proceeds also goes to RFAD we need to step it up next year.
I know from previous events at Rhino 4x4, that camping can be arranged to accommodate clubs with members called "Chris and Penny".
