Ok, so the smog does suck but other than that

So nou sal ek julle darm nie mis nie.

Awesome views, I'm looking forward to the trip. Just hope the weather improves dramatically before then so the trail can dry out.

We have done the trail Sunday past 3 vehicles and 1 Jimmy. The Jimmy did the complete red route with no probs. From the experience gained on Sunday 4-5 vehicles at a time max and very good communication. Half of the route is done up and down on same road and very little almost none passing points. Some advise drive up to the top wait for all to arrive and start returning. We played as it was only us four on the route we did the boomslang from top down. The Hilux lift its wheel like my dogs against the trees in the park.

You must enjoy the drip.

A bit of confusion with the Co-ords, I can't maak any sense of the ones given by Pumba, :?

Here's a Google Map of the meeting point:

Former Opel Dealership Car Park

Corner of Bird (R304) and Adam Tas (R44)

True Co-ords: S33*55'20", E18*51'19"

Will e-mail all attending Manne also

Depending on format of co-ord you are using this might work better:

Wow!! - What An Awesome Trail Manne

Many many thanks to all involved

Our Party: 15 vehicles all through without incident

More than can be said about the two parties that followed us; the 2009 Hilux was badly damaged in the second group and a Landy in the 3rd group had to be winched out of Boomslang

Special thanks to Kobus for the planning, there was "Wors for Africa" afterwards and nought but great camaraderie and excellent humour on the radios and around the braai fires

A very special and memorable Trail - nou let's get the videos and photo CD's to Kobus for another one of his amazing productions. :P

I'll put up my photo link just nou - but here's one that describes the day and after-taste for me

Thanks again Manne, awesome to meet so many new Forum Members and Potential recruits

Eisch, that's my Hilux grabbing some air  You guys need to realise I'm a newbie at this, when you say "gee vet", I tend to plant my right foot against the floorboards :D:

What a great day, thanks to all involved. It was a blessing to be part of the group and I trust we'll do plenty more of them in the future. We can also maybe try a new approach with regards to the social interaction between the groups and maybe add in some sort of Scouts type exercises where we have to construct something together or outdoor team building type games etc.

This was also my first official 4x4 trail and I fell in love with my Hilux all over again. I enjoyed Saturday soooo much that I continued with the fun at Altantis today. What an awesomely capable vehicle !!!!
Only now I have a true appreciation of why you guys all rave so much about your Luxes, they're the "Bassets danglers!!!!"

I learnt two valuable lessons on the day:
1. Be greatfully for every little thing you have, God has blessed us richly.
2. You can never have too many lockers on your vehicle  :D:

To those that tackled those obstacles without it, well done boys... respect !!!

Dankie Manne !!. This was really an awesome day. Nice to have met some of the blokes on the forum and to have experienced the adrenaline and enjoyment you've all been raving about.
Taking the kayamandi kids along with us really just made it all so much more special.

A little moment I must share, was returning to my vehicle at boomslang to find a new face in the backseat. At first thought she just wanted to sit with her friend, my passanger, for the rest of the trip. But soon realised that it was one of the passengers of the Lux that had been at the bottom... a little longer than the others. But the expression on her face when she saw that lux eventually rising out of the hole was priceless! She stopped her sentence halfway through and jumped out , making her way back to her original driver, ecstatic that he had "overcome the slang".

It was really all heart-warming stuff. The best introduction to offroading anyone could ask for.

On the topic of lockers....
I must admit, I did enjoy being asked "So you have a Rear Diff-Lock in that Prado?" or "thats the Prado with traction control, right?". I enjoyed the :? or  when I replied that no I dont have either, :D .

Guys without lockers: Its all about wheel placement and only put down as much power as what you have traction, too much = spin = stuck.

Dankie Piesang, I really enjoyed that we were a bunch of guys out in their 4x4's and that all were fully accepting no matter what you drove.

A photo of the Uno at the top view point, that would have been gr8 and I think the Wacky Mobile would have idled up with it in tow :)

Tobi the German said that's a few things he'll never forget about his Awesome RSA 4x4 Experience:

1. Seeing The Uno parked with 15 Awesome trucks - "ziss cannot be so, kan it" :? :? :?
2. Seeing the look on my face when I saw what was waiting after the water climb (and scramble for Mikes) :o:
3. Watching and Listening to the Kidz toi-toi for the Toy Toyz

Priceless :!:

:wth:

One of the 'first-time' 4x4 participants 'Noob' driving Roy... in action

Please note as well that a new L-a-n-d R-o-v-e-r battled with this obstacle just after Noob conquered it on his first 4x4 outing!

It's not so easy sonder lockers!

Well done Shaun and Roy!

Boeta Steve's broken Engine Mount and consequential fan-against-cowling-grating noise brought a few memories flooding back to me.

Have you got the "gotta-be-the-diff sound" on Video Oom Bretton :?:

If you don't come right with getting it fixed Boeta send me a PM maybe you can take a turn by me in Obz for a fix

That's so unfair, it looks so easy on the video... but I guess that's why we drive Toyota's

Love the backround comments as well

Brian all the footage is on the DVD(to be delivered to Pumba), my 'spare' time is very limited at the moment, if I get a gap I'll process a clip or 2 more and post...

Goeie dag
Hierdie was voorwaar 'n baie aangename Trip, selfs beter as ons DS Outings.

Ek sal ons foto's hierdie naweek by Kobus uitkry.

Geniet die dag en die 4X4-ing.
Groete
Stephen
PS my vorige boodskap het in die Bermuda Triangle verdwyn.
