Hello fellow riders:
I am taking leave next month for a week;we are staying at pinelake marina 8/8/-15/08.
we are planning to do 3 trails in the surrounding area. Any advise on trails that we can go on.I know we want to do Knysna Forest.any info would help thanks.
You can also drive the magnificent Prince Alfred's Pass between Knysna and Avontuur. The road is narrow, clinging to vertical cliffs and you are going to hope nobody comes from the other side. This pass and the surrounding is steeped in history and the scenery is breathtaking. It is also one of the passes built by the legendary Thomas Bain. Take a day to do this you wont regret it....

Check out www.4x4ineden.co.za for info on trails in the garden route. I recommend Louvain in the mountains between George and Avontuur (probably 1.5hrs from pine lake marina - a good day outing). Also Vleesbaai dunes past Mossel Bay for good sand dune driving (probably 1hr from PLM). Close to sedgefield off the N2 there is a farmer with a 4x4 trail on his land (Jacques 0829577806). Never tried it but will probably be fun. Not much else within a 30km radius in terms of technical trails. Plenty scenic passes though. The PA pass from Knysna to Avontuur is interesting & scenic, but not technical (you can do it easily in a sedan). If you go to Louvain, go via the Montagu pass from George over the Outeniqua mountains - much nicer than the tarred Outeniqua pass. Good luck
At last arrived in Pinelake Marina yesterday.Traffic a bit hectic fron Heidelberg towards Knysna.anyway it seems that we gonna do Burchell.s trail in De Vlugt tomorrow.cheers for now will post pictures when get back.
