Sportlid for DC Bakkie & OTHER additions

Post by TumTum »

http://www.sportbakkie.co.za/documents/sportlid.html

Does anyone or do you know of anyone who has had a Sportlid fitted to their bakkie? It fits Toyota, Isuzu, Ford & Navara.

I have seen them supplied by SA Canopy as well as Sportbakkie, but have heard some contradicting stories, not sure if it's sales talk!

We are considering having one on our new D-4D bakkie (still waiting)
Please Help!
Thanks

You've gotta love those rims................ Not!

TT, I wonder how dust proof the load bin will be? One would need to try seal the tailgate as well.

Don't think it would really be a problem as long as you maintain positive pressure on the inside

Now let's think about this one for a moment..... ... this is a tough one..... can I phone a friend :)

Actually Eric... you're a brilliant man. You just gave us the best example of positive pressure inside a container not allowing dust to go inside. Think about it, if the tyre is inflated, there is absolutely no dust on the inside and you can travel on any amount of gravel you like. But debead the tyre and you'll see how quick sand gets in there

Now-Now Guyz...  well commented!!!!

But let's get to the brainy part:
Guys….The topic is about the Sportlid… :!: :!: Dust is a good point - an overall Toyota problem - I have a home-made invention that works quite well for dust entering at lower part of tailgate - have been told the lid seals quite well as it "fits snug" on the bak - show me a canopy that IS dustproof! :o

As for the BLING rims and boy...those tyres.....must be lo-profiles....

Thanks  for your constructive input - point taken on the pressure and non dust and blah blah blah.... Guys this is what we're doin to our new D-4D 4 x 4 bakkie :D :D (which we're still waiting for!): :(

1. ARB winch bull bar as per pic - colour coded
2. T-Max 9500lb winch
3. Full Front & Rear OME suspension (is it advisable to have it done to new vehicle)
4. Set IPF Spots - actually driving beams
5. Safari Snorkel - just don't like the looong front 'nozzle'
6. Chrome Rear Tow Bar step
7. Chrome side pipes
8. Well...the much debated Sportlid - colour coded - don't like canopies, safari canopies, alu-cabs and whatever - personal preference  (Have our off road caravan)
9. The other normal leather seats, bin lining etc.

To Come: First would be to change the Grabbers the bakkies comes out with - and NOOOO not with the bling rims and the oh-so-city-slicker-lo-profiles!!! :Geek:

Your constructive  8 ) :? comments???

My brother has one on his Frod. He has had issues with scratches.

Think about it, a huge flat surface like that (made out of fibre glass) is so inviting to quickly put something onto it and before you know it someone somewhere as put down an object which they dragged over the surface and your nice and shiny bling lid id not so bling anymore. :x :x
