Outreach to Botswana: Okavango

Post by SAFARI Mac »

Heijjj daar ammal - As most of you will know & remember, I try to arrange Outreaches to Botswana, Okavango area and Western Botswana .. so, while being idle here in Lagos this outreach came on my path.
I would dearly like to impact as wide as possible, so I have not included any Church or Congregation in the notice .. only the two 4x4 forums: The Nissan guys and the Toyota crowd on this Hilux forum will receive the notice ... NOTE - Nothing stopping YOU to involve your "Gemeente", Church, Congregation... (Bennie - what is the link to the 'old' threads on Willi & Seronga?)
Info as below:

I am still in Lagos but D V, I'll be back in SA by next week 12 January ...
NOW - I am planning a "Bible Delivery" to the Missionary at Seronga [North of the Okavango] for the 2-nd week in March.
DEPART Pretoria Sunday 8 March - RETURN on Saturday 14 March

Step 1: Logistics:
(i) We will need Bibles, mostly in Tshwana, the "Tshwana Central" translation - So, your participation in collecting & sponsoring these Bibles will be appreciated (not just by me ...) We aim to take at least 500 Bibles on this trip.
(ii) It is never a good Idea to go on such a trip alone, so herewith an invitation for you to come along. If you make your own 4x4 available, you must be willing to take passengers as well. If you don’t have a 4x4 but want to come along anyway ... then I have space for 3 more persons [Kobus is No 1 on the list] .. and I'm sure there will be 4x4 owners who want to come along, so hitching you up "for the ride" is easy.]

(iii) Each person is responsible for his/her own funding for the trip - Overnight fees, meals and refreshments [Take Note: NO alcohol will be allowed for the duration of the outreach] <if I can do it ... so can you> [I R O The funding, it is preferable that you get a sponsor/s rather than paying "out of pocket" ... Thereby you also give someone else who may not have the free time or opportunity to go along, to also be involved in the outreach.] And last but not least: We all share the fuel, road taxes and border costs. (Distance to Seronga is just short of 1600 Km x 2 = 3200 .. of which most is tarred road. Only the section Seronga - Shakawe is dirt road and then the Outreach to the cattle posts ... :-) ... 4x4 only. Heavy sand)

Step 2: PROGRAMME
Loading & Packing all done and completed on Saturday 7 March [my place - Garsfontein]
(i) Depart Pretoria - 06:00, Saturday 7/03/009
(ii) Overnight - D'Kar [Busman heritage village & museum]
(iii.a) Sunday 8th: Depart D'Kar - visit Tsodilo Hills & overnight -
(iii.b) Monday 9th - en-route to Seronga, stop-over at Drotsky's, refuel at Shakawe, cross the Okavango Mohembo with the ferry
(iv) Tuesday 10th: Hand over Bibles; Visit Seronga Village; Attend "Induction" at Mission Station, Relax / Evening: Pastor Willie will be in charge of that
(v) Wednesday 11: Fix & repair & plan repairs to whatever is broken [Willie will say]
Evening: Outreach with Jesus film to a Cattle Post & experience the awe of a full moon rising over the Delta
(vi) Thursday 12th: Makoro trip on the mighty Okavango - early night
(vii) Friday 13 - Depart for Pretoria: 08:00 - Overnight @ Kang
(viii) Saturday 14th - Depart Kang 06:00, Arrive Pretoria at about ongeveer plus minus 16:00

Step 3:
Go out and witness what The Lord Jesus has meant for you during this trip and how much closer you got to Him...

INTERESTED ???
Then e-Mail me on: weskus_klong@hotmail.com
First come, first served.
Kobus {Herrie} is booked.

And if there is no other way that you can assist to sponsor or collecting Bibles - then please PRAY for this Outreach [the preparations, for enough Bibles, safety and cameradery of the group, and that the Lord's Will be done during and with this Outreach]

The next outreach is planned for last week in April - when we will be taking 3 tonnes of clothing to the Bushman Village "RANYANE" [Also in Botswana]

Ja -0Cas - daai Bybels is reg - ek dink Bybelgenootskap se Bybels is bikki goedkoper.

... daagliks.
en e-pos maar vi oompi by OKAVANGOREACHED@Gmail.com as jy wil saamgaan of wil bydrae.

SAL ? OneTime? of mt 'n Toyota dubbelkap 2,4 4x4 bakkie?

Groete
Mac

Hi All / Hjelloooooooo ammal en Hi FD ...
as you know -
We have started planning an outreach to Seronga; Far Northern Botswana. Originaly the dates were "open" but Willie has just let me kmnow that he has EE3 training for the 1st week in March and to have our group AND the students all bundled together wioll not vwork well.
Therfore - it was decided to move the outreach date forward and the Program wil change thus:

Loading/Packing:- 7 March
Depart: 8 March @ 05:00 sharp

Overnight at D'Kar [Bushman Village & Museum] - there should be time to visit the Museum and the Missinonery
Arrive Seronga 9 March - Orientation and early to bed;
10 March Hand Over Bibles to Willie & Elders and help with tasks & repairs around the Missionery.
10 Maart ; Outreach #1 with Jesus Film to a Cattle Post through thick (heavy) sand - getting stuck, pushing, shoveling and enjoying 4x4 4 Jesus !!!
11 March am- we brave the Delta Hippos & crocs on Makoro rides (@P250 per makoro - it takes 2 persons iow: Pula125.oo p/person)
11 March pm = Next Jesus Film to a faaaaaaaaaarraway cattle post. [some more 4x4 4 The Lord]
12 March - Besoek Pre-Scool and Seronga, Ngarangi, Beetsha vilages - te bed early...
13 Maart .. Tackle the long road home ... via Tsodilo Hills [make sure you have some Pula left, as the trinkets and ornaments are to die for at Tsodilo hills] - Overnight at by Tsodilo [we pitch tents - but there are ample ablution facilities.

14 Maart - We have an eartly start ... real early, its a looooooooooooooong way home [Expect to be back in Pretoria after dark]

Thats the program - and I trust it will stay unchanged, God willing.
Thank you for all who aim to come along .
Thereast - PLEASE PRAY for that what uis needed to make this outreach a success for the Glory of His Kingdom. May it come.
Peace be with you
Mac [the old one]

Hey guys. I'm going to order Bibles from the Bible Society. AT the moment the Bibles go for R41 each. The more we order the better discount we get and the more Bibles we can get. So if anybody can, please let me know then we can combine the orders. I'm going to do my best to order at least 30 Bibles myself.

Hi all -
I came upon an old [2008, April] e-mail from Willie at Seronga whereby he was asking for blankets for the old people of Seronga & surrounds. They hand out these blankets to the old people during house visits.
As we are leaving for Botswana on 1 March with 2 vehicles and I'm sure there will be enough space - why dont you go peek around for those blankets that will be lying idle this coming winter - and then get them to us on Saturday 28 Feb [thats our "Loading" day]
We can set up collection points in KemptonPark area, Nelspruit, Carolina and the greater Pretoria area.
IF any body in other areas want to help out, place your details here ... and just do it.
Thanx for your time - again.
Greetings & regards: Mac

By voorbaat DANKIE
Ons sal prentjies maak en kom vertel...
moogaan ammal.
