3.0D4-D Tyre size and road noise

Post by braider »

Hi guys,

I have a 2007 3.0D4D D/C Raider with the pre-facelift wheels. What I do enjoy about these wheels is that road noise is really low. Has anyone been in this model as well as the facelift or the fortuner? Can you compare the road noise levels?

I might change my wheels at my next tyre change but don't want to increase road noise at all!

Thanx,

Gary

That one I'm not sure of. I saw a test with a lot of different brands and this one was one of the top overall performers, even though it does not have such an aggressive tread pattern, it was tops on wet roads, gravel roads, sand and inclines. Only surface that I think was not tested, was mud. Best (top) performance also ito road noise. It convinced me. If I can find the test thread I will post it, or maybe someone else can help with finding it.??

Gary, I also love the Pirelli Scorpions. Had two sets on my Rav. It came out with Bridgestones and I only got 38k kms on them. Replaced it with the Scorpions and got 90k kms on the first set and sold the car with the second set also on 90k kms and still about 5mm thread left. he Fortuner will be due for tyres soon and I will only fit the Pirellis!

Hey Johann,

Thats interesting to know, I thought with the low noise levels tyre life would not be something to write home about but certainly seems to be the case here.

My next set of tyres has now been decided - bring on the scorpions!
