Canopy hinges and locks

Post by SuidWes »

I’m currently busy building a aluminium canopy and I’m looking for a place that sells hinges and locks similar to the ones that Alucab uses. Does anybody know of such a place near Cape Town?

Yis Jacques,

Gaan oor so twee weke begin bou, sal 'n paar fotos post.

Hi Jaco,

Yes - klink goed.

Groete,
Jacques (gedruk vir tyd - vertrek 21 Maart Namibie toe...)

Hi Jaco,

Aangeheg is die plan vir my raam.

My afmetings is vir my IFS d/c se laaibak.

Hoe lyk jou idees?

Groete,
Jacques

Yes - klink goed.

Yip, my ou wa is dors genoeg.

Jaco! Are you building your canopy yet? Look at mine!! I worked on it on Saturday and completed the doors. The rear door still needs a strip on the bottom to round it off and then I need to fit the locks. Otherwise it is just about done.

is it possible to remove the barrel from these locks.
I need to clean it out. with q20 and elbow grease they are working now, but they still feel very gritty. wondering if one can remove them, dip in benzene and clean thoroughly?

Hi Saakir. i just had a look at one. Does not seem so. I would advise trying something like carb cleaner first. Use a aerosol can with the red pipe that conects to the nozzle. Try to get inside the lock where the key goes. let it dry and then use a lubricant like WD40/Q20 again with the pipe connected to the nozzle inserted in the barrel

Rather use a "dry" lubricant, like one of the silicone based ones (Q8), or better yet, graphite powder, than Q20/WD40 as they attract dust
