Power upgrades for a 2.4
I’m currently looking to upgrade my vehicle. Unfortunately the 2.8GD is not within my budget right now, but I do plan to get a revo shaped Hilux. Is getting a manual 2.4 a downgrade from a D4D? The build plan goes eventually 35s, but I’m worried it won’t have the necessary push (which in that case is okay with 33s, but I wonder) **How much whp/wtq can you get out of a 2.4GD with a tune? (I have a friend who has 324lb-ft to the wheels on an auto 3.0d4d, says it’s doing okay with the 35s)

The standard 2.4 GD6 will feel roughly the same as the 3.0 D4D in terms of power. Know the output specs differ.
You will have to go for a manual tune (either ECU upgrade or chip). Plug-and-play chips won't work for your upgrade ideas.
To fit 35s you will have to have substantial suspension raise and most likely cuts to the bodywork.

Not so sure about the 2.4 handling 35" tyres too well. That's a big jump from standard. It's going to drain a lot of power from the motor.
Then as mentioned, you going to need a suspension lift and more than likely a diff drop and body lift as well. Lotsa bucks!
Furthermore, you're going to be way out on your gearing. that's going to affect you both on the open road as well as in the rough. Off road you're not going to achieve the same low speed torque and the capability of the vehicle will actually become worse. Solution - change the diff ratios ..... that's two diffs and lots more bucks.
Remember also that without a diff ratio change the whole drive-train is going to be submitted to stresses that it wasn't actually designed for. with a diff ratio change you're still going to stress everything beyond the crown & pinion beyond it's intended capability ..... be prepared to replace spider gears and half-shafts. If you're careful you might get away with it but if your reason for wanting to fit 35" tyres is for improved off-road capability, then you're going to over stress it all.
If your reason is just for looks, then I would rather save the hassle and the money.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
