New Hilux
Will put this in English.
I currently own a 2010 3.0 D4D Fortuner.
I really love this car, but I'm thinking of upgrading.
I had a look at the 2.8 GD6 auto and took it for a test drive and really like it.
Still not sure if I want to trade my FT.
I only get about 8.5 km/l with my Fortuner and around 7 km/l when I tow.
Seems like I will get about the same with the Hilux when towing, but way better when not.
Would like to hear from you guys.
This is my pride and joy.

Re: New Hilux
Much depends on your family requirements, but personally, I would stick to what you already have!

Re: New Hilux
I would think the extra cost of the new hilux will most certainly hurt more than the "poor" fuel consumption of your Fortuner...
Plus you would need to kit it out again at extra cost...
Unless you REALLY have an itch, I'd stick to the Fortuner.

Re: New Hilux
Agree with the above comments (from a conservative point of view ), and also you know and are familiar with what you've got .... although I'm inclined to believe that you should be getting a little better fuel economy. Maybe have it checked over properly.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Re: New Hilux
I drive an "old" 2003 Hilux 4x4. Lots of folks HERE have newer Hiluxes, but mine still looks and runs better than theirs. The newer trucks are so overloaded with "controls" that they are really no fun to drive. Keep your Fortuner !!

Kinders raak nou groter en meer spasie is altyd welkom.

Re: New Hilux
I recently got Legend 50. Really awesome vehicle. The new technology and driving comfort cannot be compared to my previous D4d. Fuel consumption on the Auto, 4x4 are around 10km/l town, and 12km/l highway.

The only way to scratch that itch is with a brand new seat under your bum!

Re: New Hilux
Dippies that is amazing diesel consumption. I get average around 9.5, 9.6 km/l on the Highway and much less in town.
2018 2.8 Auto 4x4.
Maybe its the BF tyres, lift and Canopy making it heavier.
BUT it gives me much the same as my previous 3.0D4D, but with plenty more power and comforts, so I’m not complaining!
Its really a much better drive than the previous generation.

Re: New Hilux
I have also found that with extra weight, consumption does deteriorate somewhat.
Watch the blue consumption bar on your dash, you'll see that a mm or 2 throttle release makes a big difference when keeping constant speed.
