NEW TO HILUX4X4--live in Pretoria
Morning All,
I am a newbie from Pretoria,
and have just recently paid my deposit on a 2004 3.0 KZ-TE 4x4 Double Cab.
I will be paying the balance off over two months---and will then proudly take delivery of the 'excellent condition' vehicle.
I am a total ignoramus with regards to Hilux, diesels in general---(and extreme 4x4 ing)
so obviously have stax to learn.
I do a bit of Adventure Motorcycling on my 1150GSA,
and for my sins also own a couple of VW Syncro's. (One of which I will be collecting soon in Wilderness---after breaking down in Baviaaanskloof in December 2016)
I'm expecting the Hilux to be much more reliable??
I am a married, "young-at-heart toppie" with two beautiful young (8 + 6 yr old ) daughters.
Thanks for opportunity to join a highly informative forum.
Regards
Paul

Welcome aboard, Paul!!
The KZTE is a great vehicle and will look after you if you look after it - ride it hard and sooner or later you will be looking at a head replacement. Of course one doesn't know with certainty how well it was looked after by previous ownership and if the head goes at some point, replace it with an AMC head. Better than OEM and the price difference is not too bad but more than justified.
The Syncros are one of the very best vehicles ever for sandy conditions, my boet at one time had 3 of them.
Enjoy the forum, and ja, we all have something to learn no matter the level of our experience.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
