LOVED our trip in the 2,7
For long distance trips and mountain trails - DIESEL
for sand and power to pass on the long roads - 4.0
I doubt there is one engine for all purposes ....

There have been some 2700i engines successfully transplanted into SFAs as well, something else you could consider. I spoke to someone here in Klerkies a while ago and he was very happy with his conversion. A lot kinder on drive train components too.

I love my 22R especially after my EFI conversion yes its a bit under powered and a gas guzzler but I prefer my one.

I have driven all the engine variants in the SFA hilux and now have the lexus motor in. I dont drive any faster (or slower) than before but the power on tap is unbelievable if compared to the stock engine and it makes it so much more of a pleasure to drive. Overtaking is a breeze and hill climbing frustrations are non existent

I am happy with the KZTE in the SFA also hear that 2.5 dvd can use a manual pump need someone to confirm.
