Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
My insurance insist that I fit the " Toyota security kit" - 2 plates - one for the ECU and one for the alarm horn.
Now the problem is that Toyota themselves don't make these security plates anymore...
Does anyone here know where I might obtain the "security kit" ?
Specifically the ECU plate/cover.
I can bend a piece of alu/stainless sheet for the alarm horn myself as this is a simple enough plate, but not the ECU plate.

Re: Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
Slight conundrum ....
Insurance insists on a product Toyota no longer provides.
Would the insurance except anything else ???? Is it even worth trying to make another plate, if you cant show a "Toyota document" for these plates .....
Frankly sounds like two emails :
1) Insurance to comment on conundrum and indicate what they will accept ...
2) move your insurance ....

Hi guys.
I'm a bit of a newby and I haven't heard of these plates before.. Are they suppose to stop ppl from accessing the horn and the ECU when attempting to steal the bakkie? Do these work or just put up a fight for 2min..? I'm always looking for new ways of securing my bakkie..

Hi Rusti,
The plates are specifically for the vigo models, I don't know of then ever being fitted to the SFA of IFS.
They are supposed to stop them getting to the horn, and unplugging the ECU in order to use theri own ECU, but I think it only slows them down.

Re: Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
Hi Andre,
I figured that those plates would not fit my bakkie but I'm interested in the concept.. When I bought my bakkie the new alarm gave me hassles so I had to get a temporary ECU from the shop that installed it.. Took me 5min to swap it out..
I wonder if there's a nice awkward space somewhere to bolt a small gun safe with a conduit hole in the side so the ECU and maybe even a tracker can be kept inside it.. if the tracker will be able to ping from inside..
That would give them allot of work to do..

Re: Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
We're currently visiting the in-laws in a small northern kzn town.
I popped into the local toyota dealership and asked for the security kit... lo and behold a full R65 and 4 screws later...done.

Part number for the "kit"
It consists of 2 plates. One for the ECU and one that covers the alarm horn.

Re: Hilux Vigo security kit/plates
Ok ek moet bieg.
I did not pass through town on a normal business day again last year.
So I was not abke to ask for another set of plates.
But my inlaws stay there so I'll ask them to swing by and get you a set if they still have stock.
