Could always sell my 5L and exchange it for the 2.7!
Sjoe, jy ken goeie tricks!benhur wrote:Koop vir mammie so 'n ietsie in goud, sommer vir net sommer.
Now here's a thought!leonbrink wrote:Will members from this forum that have got experience with the 2.7i engine in the SFA Hilux please give some info on this thread. I would like to know of what costs are involved, what modifications are needed.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay. SFA = Solid Front Axel. So your 2.7 in it's original body will be a IFS = Independent Front suspension. Some guys replace the motor on the SFA and use the 2.7 or KZ motors amongst others. Can not remember the 5l now but there is a post on the site that will tell you.
There are hundreds of high milage IFS Toyota's and Isuzu's out there that are testiment to IFS reliability, yes even those that have lifted suspension etc......benhur wrote: Wade
I hear what you say and agree that an IFS is not bad at all but if you need to compare a SFA to an IFS over the course of say 150 000 kms do you really think the IFS would last nearly as long, without having to spend and arm and a leg on maintenance, or be as reliable as the SFA if you use it off-road extensively?
I agree that bash plate etc are essential, but then most fit these to SFA as well. Pure protection comes at the fraction of the price of a conversion.benhur wrote: I think that is where the SFA comes to its own right. Also you must remember that without proper bash plates a IFS is more susceptible to damage when used off-road.
