Radio Modification
Hi,
As soon as I start driving, the contacts on my radio greys out for the bluetooth.
I have heard that there is 2 wires that need to be modified on the radio to prevent it.
I think that one is the speed sensor and the other the handbrake.
Apparently this is the same for the DVD player
Does anyone here know how to modify it?
Thanks,
Hanno

Re: Radio Modification
If it is at all the same as getting the DVD video to display when driving then it will be to ground the wires.
The DVD player has a handbrake wire that should be connected to the handbrake and one you release the handbrake the picture goes off. This wire needs to be grounded then it will work without cutting out.

Re: Radio Modification
Thanks for the reply. Any idea which wire it is or if someone has the schematic for the wiring?

Re: Radio Modification
What radio is it? Serial number? With replacement DVD/GPS players it is a pink wire.
Will just be easier to get the diagram if you can tell us what the serial number is.

Re: Radio Modification
On my 2010 Prado 150 the greying out of various functions on the screen also irritated me and also loads of other owners. Ask your local Toyota agent as they are sometimes willing to install a switch (at your own risk) so that you can operate the functions that are grey'd out. It is apparently just the speed signal. The reason why I personally have no problem with doing that mod is for the following reason - how are you suppose to operate your nav etc while driving if it is grey'd out? Silly!
The speed signal would not solve the DVD problem and my opinion is that you should not activate the DVD to be able to play while you are driving, it is dangerous and not responsible towards passengers and fellow road users - do the right thing.

Re: Radio Modification
So I can't find a PVH-4638zt but do find a AVH-4638zt.
Here is the wiring diagram and pin out. Check if it is the same.

Re: Radio Modification
Good evening gents. Reading above posts I'm confident that you might be able to assist. I have same radio as mentioned above and tried to play a DVD this afternoon. The sound works fine, but get a blue picture. Any ideas why?
I did try it with the handbrake pulled up, vehicle parked.
