Re: Home Brew
Excellent, just be mindful of fermenting temperatures. You have to keep them as constant as possible.
I will will only start brewing again in May, when I can control the temperature by means of a water bath and aquarium thermometer. I only brew two different styles, a Blonde Ale and Dark IPA.

Re: Home Brew
My first batch did not turn out great at all... was a Lager that came with the Coopers kit... but after tasting and reading up a bit I suspect that the yeast/sugar might have been expired/old so will try a new batch sometime this month again. Hou duimvas dat die een beter is asb!!

Re: Home Brew
Yes, if all your equipment is not sterilised the yeast will not do its thing, to do a lager you need lower temperatures and ale a bit higher. And it is very important to control the the wort when you boil it, you don't want it to boil over!Obelix and Dogmatix wrote:HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE,Oosie101 wrote:My first batch did not turn out great at all... was a Lager that came with the Coopers kit... but after tasting and reading up a bit I suspect that the yeast/sugar might have been expired/old so will try a new batch sometime this month again. I see they use an old fridge or freezer to help control the temperature.
Good Luck
