You can use these solar powered watches. You never have to replace the batteries at all and they never loose time

Now that would look so snazzy on my wrist!!! And it's got weather features too! If it tells time, it's sunny, if it's wet it's raining! How awesome!CasKru wrote:You can use these solar powered watches. You never have to replace the batteries at all and they never loose time

+1.The sun works for me... and at nite, I dont care... Havent owned a watch for 20 years...
When in my Hilux, it has a reliable built in watch,
when not in my Hilux my cell phone has a watch,
when behind my computer, the computer has a watch.
When hiking or doing something outdoors where I do not have my cell phone; either the sun is my watch or I don't care about the time.
Last time I had a watch on my arm was in 1994.

Re: Best outdoor watch
so basically NOBODY here wears a watch anymore .....
some where a mini-sports-computer around their wrist where our grand parents wore a watch. but the rest of us have come to grips with having a time display on\in:
- the radio
- the computer
- your cell
- car
- bakkie
- microwave
- stove
- video machine
- big wall mounted clock in the board room
have not worn a watch for about 5 years - and my day job is run to tight meeting schedules

think the point is that a watch is now very much like ear rings .... just jewelry to compliment you "look" ...Stuart Baak wrote:Okay so seems the consensus is, buy something else haha
so get what ever LOOKS nice (unless you want\need a sports watch)

Re: Best outdoor watch
I like the Casio Pathfinder watch series.
Reasons
Waterproof
Build in solar panel, therefore you never have to change the batteries.
If you live in a first world you never have to set the watch it sync every night with an atomic clock. Do not know how it works but it does. Does not work in South Africa.
Build in Compass
Build in Barometer
Build in Altimeter
Duel time zones
Some have a build in tidal wave curve not mine.
http://protrek.casio.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Mine is 3 or 4 years old and I almost never takes it off.
I like the G-shock as well very tough.
My problem with the watches with a build in GPS you have to charge the batteries constantly if you use the GPS.

Re: Best outdoor watch
What is the point of these watches?
I have a Tempo...R250...works very lekka
You can also gooi it anywhere and if it breaks you just buy a new one or look on your cellphone.
And if you are in the bush, who looks at a watch?
Funny thing is, though, if you read the reviews of these things, it seems if you use the GPS the battery runs flat in no time...no pun intended

I must agree with big d. If you want something that is indestructable go g-shock. I have had mine for ages and use mine in diesel petrol chemicals and even dive with it and never had a days problem. Truly the Hilux of watches.

Re: Best outdoor watch
I am on my second Casio Tidemaster or something.
http://www.milnejewelry.com/Casio/casio56.html
I could never find it in our shops and had to buy it over the internet. The last one I paid R350 for.
The only reason I am on my second one is because when the first one's battery died I was a cheapskate and replaced the battery at a none casio dealer and it got water in.Wont make that mistake again.
I am always busy with some water activities and the fact that it can show the tides is awesome for me.Also I like the Moon phases and it can show direction.
