Faulty fuel gauge

Post by Neildbn »

So it seems that I ran out of diesel today despite the gauge reading just over 1/4 tank.

My Hilux Virgo has just done 110 000km so it is out of warrantee.

How easy is it to get the gauge control in the tank of a Virgo Hilux, do I need to remove the tank?

Any advise would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Yes, normally one has to drop the tank out. Drain it, disconnect the fuel lines, (supply and return - mark which is which), disconnect filler and breather and release the tank. Let it down slowly and see that there is enough slack on the fuel gauge wires to let it down completely. ;-)
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Hello Neil. IS MD said, the tank needs to me removed to access the pump / gauge assembly.

If you want, send me a PM /email and I will mail you a step by step on removing the tank and accessing the pump.
