Hi all, a friend is considering towing his SP to CKGR, towing with a LC 76 SW. Our route is Khama Rhino, Matswere gate, Kori and Passarge, then back to Khama via Matswere. It will be early Oct this year. My vehicle has a winch, for in case.
Apart from deep sand, are there any other obstacles which will not be passable with this caravan? Btw, he's been up to Drie Provinsies' campsite twice without any problems, just going slow.
Anybody with experience?
I have a Wilk topaz that has been raised which is a simple conversion to give the body extra clearance. However what worries me is the clearance of the axle.

Been there December and we met a guy with a 76 towing an off road caravan round there.
Some sand some places but with low range that 76 will not be stopped.

Sprite tourer is running on 245/75/15 tyres. Load the carvan as lightly as possible as the swing arms on the Rubber suspension axle can bend if heeavy loaded and hitting a serious size pothole.subok wrote:Thanks Scott, so maybe bigger wheels will help?
Also bear in mind that the caravan is designed as a gravel roader and not a full offroad caravan, so taking it easy will help a lot. Axle rating on the tourers is 1600Kg. I would suggest taking a set of spare wheel bearings for the carvan with, contact your local campworld workshop.
Axle should be using a 32005 / 32007 bearing for inner and outer if I have it correct.
Keep the nose weight as far as possible below 100 kg as it will tow better that way.
