Gabriel HDP Shocks

Post by Opsmedic »

Hi All

Has anyone fitted Gabriel HDP shocks. I have OME in at the moment and have to replace them soon and was wondering if anyone knows if these Gabriels will be a good replacement or not.

Thanks
Dave

I had them in my Hilux for about 3000km's before selling my Hilux. Can't compre it with OME, but for me it was to hard and the ride was not that good for me. I think it is adjustable, don't know what the setting was on them when I bought it. It did lift the nose with about 30mm.

I did lot of research and talked to several fitters and the general consensus was that they are very hard riding. One fitter said he will fit them for me but I must not come and ask him to remove them after two weeks. And he was not trying to promote another brand. He suggested I simply fit the Gabriel Safaris. My suspension is standard though.

I also use Gabriel Safari and cannot really see why one must buy a more expensive shock. My vehicle is stable on gravel roads and is not bumpy. Ison my second set now at the back, think the first set only did 80,000km, but if I look at the price difference I rather replace it every 4 years with new ones.

I have Mikem leaf springs at the back with Gabriel Safari all round.

You wont go wrong with Gabriel HDP 3 year/unlimited km warranty to me that shows a lot of trust in the product. HDP is available at all LA Sport stores as we use the shocks in combination with our LAS Suspensions.

I have HDP's fitted on my Vigo.

The front shocks are fine, very stable and well worth the extra money. The rear shocks are a bit on the hard side and work well with a load on the back.

If I could choose again, i would probably look at the HDP front shocks again, but use Rancho adjustable shocks in the rear.

Hi Dave,
I replaced my OME shocks with Gabriel HDP shocks all round. I have done 40,000 Km with the Gabriel HDP's and they work well. Bit hard, however when the vehicle is loaded and on off road they really work well.
Regards,
Rory
