Greetings from norway!

Post by Norlux »

Hi there!
I have been lurking this forum for a while, but figured it was time to make myself known, and hopefully get some help eventually with my Norwegian 87 hilux!
It's a SFA with a 4Y engine, manual gearbox and 142000 km on the clock. The truck has been running on a farm most it's life, and has had minimal work done to it, and just the bare necessities of maintanence. Everything seems to be original, the previous owner only added lights and horn and stereo and a lot of crap, wich is all gone now.
So far I have changed the thermostat, distributor cap and rotor, radiator cap, battery and shocks (OME) and cleaned up a bunch of crap, lubricated everything and administered love to it.
Previously I had a 90 4Runner 2door, with a 22RE in it, wich I ended up rebuilding due to the rod knock and breach between coolant and cylinder wall. Also on the 4Runner I got to tamper with just about everything, and learned a whole bunch!
This time i figured I go for a carburettor, this would force me to learn about them...
(This leads me directly to my next post, about my no start situation, and questions surrounding it!)

Welcome Eivind!  The 4Y is a great combo for the SFA, not fast, but a donkey nonetheless. Enjoy! ;-)

Thanks guys, nice to feel so welcome!
I think the 4Y and the SFA is a nice mix also, it's underpowered and over-axeld,
wich is nice. Means you wont break the drivetrain with the engine power alone....
The 4Runner with the 22RE was a bit more peppy, and i would probably say
thats the perfect engine for these vehicles... I drove a 1000km with a semi-broken oil pump and a rod knock through the canadian Rockies in winter, fully loaded, and it did not mind :D:
Easy to work on, easy to learn on, and have been tried, tested and documented on the forums!
Agtreros;Sounds great, Would love to drive Norway, it will be a beautifull trip!
