Sadly missed out on a deal of the year I think , Fortuner 4x4 2007 with 148k km for R148k :wth: , friends of mine sold it as they werent aware we looking out for something.

What are your plans? Daily driver? Overlanding? just a few trails here and there but nothing too hectic?
Just for fun and excitement playing on the trails I would say SFA but 1- old vehicle and difficult to find a good condition vehicle. Not a comfortable ride especially on long trips.
Occasional fun and excitement with more daily driving I would say IFS - KZ-TE/2.7i. Problems with the KZ-TE are that you don't always know how the previous owner treated or mistreated the vehicle and thus often resulting in cracked heads. Costly to repair. The 2.7 on the other hand is much more reliable when it comes to the motor but is extremely thirsty. You can also look at the D4d's and 4l V6's but one doesn't normally want to get a scratch on the vehicle if it is such a new vehicle.
More overlanding I would suggest 2.5/3.0 D4d's as well as the 4L V6 Hilux/Fortuner but my preferred choice would be a Land Cruiser and preferably the 80 series Land Cruiser.
