Hilux 3rz balance shaft bushes
Toyota Hilux 2.7i = 3rz engine. For some reason the bushes on the balance shafts disintegrated-oil pump problem? Anyway ended up with a siezed motor and now buzy with complete rebuild of the engine. To my shock I was informed by the dealer that toyota does not sell these bushes and I need to replace the complete block :wth: Does anyone know how to solve this "problem" without replacing the block? ( after market bushes?)I did call Gemini and these bushes do exist but the dont have stock! The engine is at the engineering shop and they now wait for me to supply either the bushes or a new block.Help pls

Re: Hilux 3rz balance shaft bushes
If you can ID the part number from here, why don't you import directly from Japan? Australia even?
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/g_G_199908 ... DKN_1.html
Even with Airfreight it will be considerably cheaper than a new block.
Edit: This refers to a 1999 model.

I did ask the guys, but the type of material used is a "white metal" same as the bearings. So brass bushes will not last.Well i'm no expert but seems like I have to buy a new block! Was looking on the net to import myself but can not even find these bushes online anywhere!!!

Re: Hilux 3rz balance shaft bushes
Ask Gemini if they can re-order, or special order for you. Otherwise they may even give you the name of the supplier. Next option might be to get an automotive engineering firm to turn some up for you out of a suitable type of steel.
Funny thing is that I vaguely recall a similar thread here on this forum some years back - cannot remember what the outcome / solution (if any) there was in that instance, but it might be worthwhile to look back for it. (If I get a little time later, I'll look as well.)
Good luck.

Re: Hilux 3rz balance shaft bushes
Willie, email them and make sure you're getting the right parts, I'm sure they'll be able to give you a better price on the shipping. I've used Express Mail International before for some motorcycle parts and speed services SA delivers to your door within 5 days. Speed Service does the Customs clearance and all you need to pay is import duty and VAT on the parts. They will come to your door with an invoice.Williepotch wrote:Thanx Legend! Re: Hilux 3rz balance shaft bushes
You might want to consider this removal/install tool as well (refer the second link above) - all you need is for them to damage the bearings whilst inserting them.
