Honingklip 10/08/2013

Post by Toybox »

Hi all,

Bit of a last minute decision, but I'm going to give Honigklip a go tomorrow. Anyone is welcome to join.

The trail is close to Botriver and should take about 3-4 hours to complete. Afterwards I may have to try some of their craft beers...

You need to fill in their indemnity form and pay your trail fees (R150). The form and bank details are on their website http://www.honingklip4x4.co.za/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I foresee a rather lazy start, and hope to be at the start of the trail by about 10am.

See you there...

Well it was a great day out. The trail is a lot of fun and has a bit of everything, tricky inclines, declines, a sandpit, an obstacle course etc etc

Some sections were seriously muddy and Richard (the owner) has gone to town creating some very challenging cross axles...

The drive took us about 3 hours, and runs from the bottom of the mountain close to the tar road right up onto the top of the mountain with spectacular views of the lagoon, sea and landscape.

We were the only vehicle on the trail so we took things pretty easy.

We didn't see the braai area but according to the splurb there is one available at the dam.

As an added bonus there is a micro-brewer on the farm, so while you re-inflate your tyres you can sample some of their craft beer, and it is delicious!

Some random pics...

Thanks guys. Just a word of warning Deon, walk the axle twisters first, the last 2 or 3 holes are very very deep.
