Vigo 2nd battery under bonnet

Post by WayneSchalk »

I want to move my 102Ahr battery from the back to the front under the bonnet. From what I have seen frontrunner has the bracket for the 102Ahr battery but I need a bit more reassurance that it will fit.

Will any of you that has a 102Ahr under the bonnet please give me the height measurement? I don't want to end up with 2 polka dots on the bonnet.

That battery will fit bit it will eventually crack the inner fender with that bracket. You need a custom bracket that takes the load off the inner fender. I have a pic but will post it later

If you can get hold of 00000MS, he could possibly show you his setup. Not sure what bracket he used.

He is lurking around the camp fire these days... ;-)

We make up a custom bracket that slips in under the fender and "hangs" done only using the inner fender as a base support. the load is taken up on the upper body rail that the fender bolts onto.

I have the front runner bracket in the front fitted it 2 years ago no problem so far. I only added a sleeve to the diesel pipe as it was rubbing against the battery .

Dylan. I would like to see your bracket. I've just fitted a 105 into my Fortuner. Was a bit of a squeeze but eventually got it in. Now I'm worried about the inner wheel arch breaking.

This bracket requires bending the fuel pipe away as well as the wiring loom support bracket. But it removes the load from the base and shifts it up to the inner fender. We could look at making a few up if there is enough of a call. I supply them to my customers at R350 excluding installation.

Ok my battery is in  not a big job, had to move a pipe and thats that, now I am waiting on my driver to return with my Ctek Dual :yahoo:

I wanted to buy a DC/DC charger but opted to just get it done with a Ctek Dual as I have the solar panel. In time I will add the Smartpass to the setup :yahoo:

Looking good.. Is the box well ventilated? If not you are right to worry about the heat.. They stop working at temps > 50°C.. :silent: :silent:

Peter I also fitted a Dual over the weekend, but these units are IP65 so drill a couple of holes in your box
