Re: My Hilux KZTE - wheels and suspension done
Filled up the van on Tuesday night, and then again this morning. Was expecting a bit of a nightmare in terms of consumption since fitting the bigger wheels.
Anyways - mostly highway travel, doing between an indicated 110 and 120. Did 352km, filled up with 38.25l. This is really good in my books. I think the snorkel has quite a bit to do with this

Re: My Hilux KZTE - wheels and suspension done
So here's the bumper fitment tale
First, I ripped the old bumper off - that was quick and easy - 5 minute job
Van was looking a bit dirty, so I pulled out the pressure washer and gave it a bit of a clean - wasn't a massive success
Anyways, to my wife's great delight I took the bumper out of the lounge, and set about unwrapping it
This is what I was presented with when I eventually got it unwrapped
Had to modify the bracket a bit to be able to fit it over the intercooler. Kinda forgot about pics at that stage, because I knew I was going to be pressed for time. Short story long - made it all work, intercooler is sitting nice and snug inside the bumper with no chance of it or the pipes getting damaged by the bumper. Bumper is on
Thought I might as well put the spotlight back on while I'm busy
Only thing left to do is to fit the indicators. Will have to go to the hardware shop tomorrow to get what I need.
Overall I'm really happy with the bumper - really does give the van some serious attitude, plus the approach angle is now just sooo much better than what it was when I had a bullbar on. I must actually take some pics of the damage I did to that poor thing at RdW

Re: Re: My Hilux KZTE - things that go 'bump' in the night
Never got around to fitting those indicators... Two reasons - 1. It's not a straight fit, 2. They are a bit boring...
So after finally finding the time, I went looking for some lights that would suit my needs. Finally found something that would do - basically a dual-light running two H3 globes. One is a spotlight, the other is a fog lamp/driving light. Had to cut the bumper to make it fit, and also modified the spotlight-side to take a park-light-type-bulb instead of the H3.
The whole idea is basically to get an indicator (original is a bit hidden by the upright bar on the bumper), and lights that give some peripheral lighting. I travel on dark roads between farms daily, and several times I almost hit a stray goat. Hope this improves my chances of seeing them in time...
Will get some pics up tomorrow
