Burns
Received this by e-mail today and thought it to be worthwhile sharing, especially since we do a lot of outdoor stuff that includes camp-fires / braaing etc., and eggs are very often available in these instances.
BURNS
A Healing Miracle for Burns:
Keep in mind this treatment of burns is being included in teaching beginner fireman. First Aid consists of first spraying cold water on the affected area until the heat is reduced which stops the continued burning of all layers of the skin. Then, spread the egg whites onto the affected area.
One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water. In spite of the pain, she ran cold faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg whites from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her hand in the solution. The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.
She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white. By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the next day there was hardly a trace of the burn. 10 days later, no trace was left at all and her skin had regained its normal color. The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Re: Burns
Thanks for clearing that up. Sounded very plausible, so I accepted it .... should have checked it out first. The aloe-vera I know about and have it growing at home .... works pretty well for all sorts of cuts and abrasions, even sun-burn, but of course one doesn't take a plant along when camping etc.

Re: Burns
Hi guys,
Here is a bit more info on the treatment of burn wounds (see attached). Below is also a list of essential burn dressings you should carry with you as an addition to your first aid kit.
2x BURNSHIELD 10cm x 10cm BURN DRESSING
2x BURNSHIELD 20cm x 20cm BURN DRESSING
2x BURNSHIELD 60cm x 40cm BURN DRESSING
2x BURNSHIELD DIGIT DRESSING 25mm X 0.5m
2x BURNSHIELD LIMB DRESSING 50mm X 1m
2x LATEX GLOVES (PAIRS)
1x RESCUE BLANKET - ADULT
1x STANDARD SCISSORS
1x BURNSHIELD HYDROGEL SPRAY 125ml
1x ROLL CLING WRAP/FILM
"Burnshield", in my eyes, is the best burn dressing you can use in an emergency. I have personally seen the results when it has been used. Oh, and it's a South African product!!
Ingredients of Burnshield are Melaluca Alt. (Tea Tree) and Water (96%).
Burnshield is available at Leading Pharmacies and Medical distributors.

Re: Burns
Remember to use only clean water at ambient temperature to cool the burn.
Toothpaste, butter/margarine, oil, brake fluid, etc are all a BIG NO!
If you don't have any Burnshield available, use clean wet gauze or a bandage, and if no first aid kit, a wet piece of clean cloth!
