Guys I have this brainwave of modifying my Kupa (fibreglass trailer) to a Hunting Fridge. This is where i need the experts as my knowledge on refrigeration is very limited.
I was thinking of putting a commpressor in the nose cone running either of a Inverter or if I possible from my Dual battery system. Then the bin itself I want to insulate and that is the big how comes in and need advise.
The idea would be to raise the bin by another say 300mm for extra storage space (Eland or two). The main reason for this is having a trailer for the long trips Alldays etc.
And when I am not using it renting it out to my fello hunter buddies.
Any ideas or contacts of people who did it before would be appreciated

Re: Hunting Trailer
Would one of the compressors (that they use in cooling trucks) not work? AFAIK they run on diesel, so it should be easy to install - no inverters, etc.

Theunis I dont have a lot of space in the nosecone the reason why I am thinking of a normal fridge compressor. Will have a chat to some experts I know at WSP they are into big refrigeration plants.

Re: Hunting Trailer
dont think this is a good idea, unless you can get a supersized 12V compressor.
the normal 12V compressors are way too small for this capacity.
You need a medium sized industrial compressor to drive such a cooler. Not even sure you would be able to start this up with an inverter.
Speak to the guys that makes the cooler units that replaces a bakkie's bak - you know the commercial refrigerated transport. You need a slightly smaller version of their units
