From Now till Then...
Thought I would keep track off the changes as they happen...(as I can afford them).
First pic is straight outta the shop! Only with BF's. First day test drive at Trekoskraal...keeping it tidy still :)
Next was the Canopy....Hopefully will upgrade to Aluminium soonish.
Final Step for now...probably the most important too! Communication :!:
After our trip to Nam we will hopefully look at lifting his nose a bit.

Hilton, you may have mentioned this before, but was there no airbag fitted there?

Hi F_D....Not sure what you mean?
I know there are airbags/sensors in the pillars. Does this installation mess with their deployment?
To be honest...that's not something I thought of.

Re: From Now till Then...
It seems that the latest D4Ds etc are fitted with airbags in the side pillars. We have not yet fitted antennas to the newer models in that position yet so mot sure what the consequences might be. Fortunately for us, 99% of the fittings we do are for Commercial usage so we normally fit quarter-wave antennas to the vehicle roof.
Does your handbook mention anything about airbags in the B/C pillars?

Hi F_D
Have been gone for a long time, so haven't had the chance to check on this till now. Checked and there are air bags in all the pillars and also confirmed with the guys who did the installation and apparently they have done quite a few vigo installations in the same place with no reported problems!?....maybe this just means no one has been in an accident that proves whether or not they still work. I am going to contact toyota and ask them about the installation.
Just a bit scared, because I didn't think of that prior to the installation!?

Re: From Now till Then...
The Vigo has three body panels in each pillar - an inner and the two outers - so you should be able to still fit the antenna as there is a steel panel separating the airbag. You need to go up as high as possible so that you gain maximum space, because lower down there is just not enough space to fit the antenna, one has to 'knock' a slightly bigger gap by hammering on that centre steel panel. Your photo in the first post looks good so I don't expect there should be any problems!
Checking with the Dealers is a good idea.

Re: From Now till Then...
So finally back on the forum with some pictures....
got the full OME kit fitted. Took measurements of before ride height, but not yet after. will post those pics when I am back at home.
Here are the Rock sliders I had fitted!!! They are seriously tough and well made. I used the services of Cobus from Red Pepper Products, and I will use him for all the aftermarket stuff I want made. His build quality and workmanship is second to none...really happy with the end products.
Then I also had Cobus make me a rear bumper with dual spare wheel carriers that are removable and the one carrier is interchangeable with a bracket that holds two jerry cans. I don't have pics of the jerry can holder with me, but will post when I am home again. Again...really sturdy. been 4x4ing with everything fitted and there are no rattles or shakes.

Thanks guys.
Hi Johann...Red Pepper Products is in Vredenburg on the west coast. Cobus is a great guy and has a passion for his work. You should see his Hilux! His contact number is on the forum...just search red pepper products and there is an advert for his stuff that the boss put on.
