Tata Going to Asia
All you Tata fans out there, here is a little something that you may not have heard about yet. It is still along term plan, but it could be great for Tata.
Tata is looking at sending trucks into the Asian market. There is going to be a Xenon Deisel and CNG and some other heavy duty trucks introduced.
Take a look here:

Any thoughts anyone?
Personally I think its great that they are spreading the brand and branching out.

The fact that Tata come from Asia really make this news less important. :wth:4x4ForLife wrote:All you Tata fans out there, here is a little something that you may not have heard about yet. It is still along term plan, but it could be great for Tata.

Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.

Re: Tata Going to Asia
Tata.... Tata...
My BIL made the mistake of buying a 2nd hand Telcoline... I cannot begin to explain how miserable an experience it has been to date... so many minor problems... and now it's been standing for over a year with bust engine... even the mech is loathed to work on it, for fear that he contaminates other vehicles with the same disease!
So yes the name is appropriate!

Re: Tata Going to Asia
they are made so crap but at least once the engines fall out the things are so light that donkeys can tow them in asia without harming themselves.....I think its one up for the carbon footprint and as for gwmds and cherrys, cwg amvs, and god knows what other conundrums they come up with .... who cares....if you buy horse manure you might as well use one to tow it......

Re: Tata Going to Asia
You buy a cheap budget vehicle because you can't afford better, only to be scammed by ridiculous parts and repair prices, up to 5 times more expensive than Toyota and most of the time the parts are not availeble, i'ts a shame that the government alows free trade with inferiour products, i wonder how much money lands in there own pockets.
I don't speak chinese, i don't eat chinese and i don't drive chinese, send them Tata's to get them back for all the junk they sell.

Re: Tata Going to Asia
Much rather buy a used Hilux?
I have seen a couple of mines use them underground but with Hilux engines. Their bodies are much heavier gauge than a Hilux so they do not rust away underground as quickly. They also tend to be locked in LR 2gear.

Re: Tata Going to Asia
not knocking anyone for their choice, as the marketing machines mislead us and catch us out!!
others might say that the rest are a bunch of sheep as many get a Hilux!!
self dont have a hilux
and still maintain
in SA one gets a Ford or a Hilux, both have their issues and both are not perfect
now need to add that at the one stage self looked at the TaTa, thought it was the same as a LandRover
they make the deals sound very nice
however on closer inspection the vehicles, while NEW on the showroom floor, the panels dont align, some of the chrome is already coming off
forgot about the rest
so yes agree, rather get a Hilux of a Ford second hand
then comes the issue of spares and the prices that makes my Jeep cheap to maintain witch it is!!
on the other hand have also heard of people with tata cars that are very happy, likewise people driving some of the Chinese vehicles
sometimes its the luck of the draw, however with bigger odds of things going wrong and one having the all the issues mentioned!!

I would rather push my Hilux than drive a Tata, not a 4x4 by far.
Not that I have ever needed to push my hilux
