Re: Welcome to all the new members
Hello to all on the forum, I would like to introduce myself the the forum, and say thank you for sharing your knowledge in such a helpful and professional manner, it is not often these days that you receive something for free. My name is Malcolm Wheatley and I am 53, I grew up in Bulawayo and went to Milton junior and senior schools, and was an armourer in the BSAP. I moved to East London in 1987, I have a wonderful wife and a married daughter and a 23year old Son who works with me.
I have just purchased my first Hilux Double Cab 4x4 and am really enjoying it. It is a 2007 4.0l v6 Auto, and has a few extras like cruise control, ONCA nudge Bar with 9000kg winch, Camel suspension and a roof rack. It has 185000km on the clock and is a pleasure to drive. I live in Gonubie, near East London, and am a self employed contractor, specialising in Barrett's Tennis courts, and general building work. My interests are Air rifles, Fishing rock and surf, Bass and fly fishing, and recently everthing to do with 4x4 vehicles and techniques. I will be going on my first 4x4 trip as soon as I have the necessary equipment.
I look forward to participating in the forum, and once again thank you.

Hi Malcolm and Welcome!!!
Your post is fine here where it is.
Your post is fine here where it is.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Hi everybody
Just to introduce myself, if this is the right place, I am Bruwer Conradie, former owner of Korannaberg Adventures in the eastern freestate, which some of you might have visited in the past. I now live in Pretoria and finally have the opportunity to do some other trails than my own.
I own a Solid Front Axle, 1985 D/C Hilux which is still standard, but will have some improvements made to it this year. First thing will be an Aussie Locker to the front axle. I will probably also have 2 sets of Add-a-leaf's put in front and rear to give me a 2" lift.
I used to work for a 4x4 company the last 6 months and might have a few usefull contacts to share with the rest of you.
Thanx for everybodies' contribution to make this such a informative forum.

I'm, Jonathan, a newbie here and in the world of Hiluxes. I'm 25 and working in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Still looking to buy my 1st Hilux, before this year ends, currently driving a Corsa bakkie which has a few extras to try and make it look like a 4x4. Here in the DRC my work vehicle is a Land Cruiser and boys, not even a Congolese can run it down, wish you guys could see some of the Toyota's driving around here.
Hoping to get into the Overlanding thing and looking for a 4x4 for my fishing trip.
Have a good one!!

Hello Everyone! My name is Dwayne and I am a “Hilux-aholic”… I am a born and bred African (Swazi), as most of you are, but have been working overseas for the last 5 years. I am finally back home as I could no longer handle those cold sleepless nights wishing for the chirp of a cricket or for the solitary cry of a fiery necked nightjar!!
I am not “new” to this site as such as I have been here often and I must start off by saying a big thank you to all the people on this site who unknowingly contributed so much information to an epic trip that I planned and completed in February 2010 from Swaziland, though Bots, Zim and Moz. Our “convoy” was only 1 vehicle but thanks to this site, that vehicle and its occupants were pretty well prepared for almost every eventuality and we had “almost” no issues the whole trip… (ALMOST hehehehe ). It was an experience that forever changed the way I think, the way I now want to live.
Since back, I have discovered a few problems with my “bush baby” but I am sure that these will be sorted out and she will be ready for her next trip – SD to Namibia – Bots – Zambia – Malawi – Tanzania and then home.

We are Environmental Consultants and I specialise in wetlands….so mud glorious mud. Generally we do some overlanding/camping in Southern Africa and I fish, fly-fish, bird watch, hunt, bow-hunt and do a bit of wildlife photography. Generally the hobbies revolve around the off roading

Hi All
As you might have guessed, I have a gold Legend40 edition. Have a RV Bullbar with winch and Crome piping to match the Rollbars.and other trimmings.
Found this site looking for accesories.
The "Tank" has been to Moz a few times, Sodwana, Cape Vidal and is the daily drive around too.
Some people might know me as Captian from other Toyota Forums as I own a 2002 Corolla (RXi shape) 1.6i GLS
Will add pics soon
Keep Well

Re: Welcome to all the new members
Vir iemand wat nie daarvan hou om op n forum te wees nie - BergHaan Wen hy my op die Forum,
Ok, so ietsie van my.
Woon in die Kaap, werk in die buiteland saam met BergHaan. Hy trek draad en ek swaai spanners.
Ons werk maar in donker Afrika en maak “Swamp-buggies” reg. Doen so 6 weke roetasie.
Ok, hier is n pic van my Toy

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Dag almal
Sal graag n roete wil ry.
