This is correct Johannes...scary!
However the premium you pay for accessories is little by comparison

Johno, the problem is that the item's / extra's have little second hand value usually below 50% :wink2:MOFASA wrote:Johannes van die See wrote:The total is almost as much as what I bought my Hilux for, the scary part is,

Jonno, you are right, it is bull...MOFASA wrote: everyone says you can not charge for extras when selling the vehicle................ I think thats just BULL
BUT, it limits your market a lot. Most guys dont want a vehicle with all the extras, and would rather go and look at a "clean" vehicle than one where extras are included. I would not want to buy a vehicle with all those extras, because I already have 90% of it, and I dont want to be stuck with selling 2nd hand kit to recoup my expense.
It is brilliant for somebody who comes new into the whole 4x4 thing, and they want a "package deal". So if you want a quick sale, strip off the extras, and sell seperately, of discount the extras heavily. Otherwise, price it in, but you are going to wait a long time for the right buyer...
Thats the long and the short of it..

Re: Replacement value of accessories
Wie sal my ooit R250,000 gee vir dit alles?
Nee wat dis myne om te hou!

Re: Replacement value of accessories
If you had also listed the portable camp light in ammo box that would have taken the value to well over R200KJohannes van die See wrote:I made a quick list of extra accessories and replacement values on my Hilux for insurance purposes and came to the shocking conclution that it's going to be to expesive to specify all these things........

Johannes, off topic I know, but what did you use for the pole inter connectors?

I'm not sure what you mean, are you talking about the electrical wire connections?zepplin wrote:Johannes, off topic I know, but what did you use for the pole inter connectors?
I soldered it directly onto the LED strip at the top and connected it to a Hella plug at the bottom.......

Actually the tubes connecting the tent poles..........I can't seem to find any tube sections with an ID of 8mm which is the OD of my poles.

Okay now I understand.
My tent pole had the tubes on it as is, all I did was I used a hacksaw to cut the glassfible tubes to lengte of the Ammo box.

Re: Replacement value of accessories
The best way is to insure those items when you go on holiday, and then removing them from insurance once you return. Obviously some items like winches, tires etc you can't remove, for if you in an unfortunate event end up in an accident.
