Re: What watch so you wear?
I have a watch obsession, or fetish.
But mostly I don't buy because it's expensive.
Currently I wear a Fossil.
But I think Santa is going to bring me a CAT this year

Re: What watch do you wear?
The same one I've used for the past 19 years!
I can certainly appreciate a fancy time-piece, but I got tired of digital watches that required battery replacement and let you down at the worst of times (no pun intended) Furthermore, most of them (and I'm not talking about cheapies) seemed to be unable to withstand the abuse of the construction industry .... the bumps shocks and vibrations took their toll all too often. So I looked around to see if I could still find a robust self winding mechanical watch ..... in 1993 the digital age had already been with us for more than a decade or two so I didn't have my hopes set too high. Surprisingly such things were still available .... scarce but some old stock could still be found. I settled on a Citizen with a plain face, date, water resistant to 50m and with recessed glass .... (don't ask me what model).
In all that time it's had two glass replacements, was cleaned at the same time and is still serving me well although it gains about a minute or so a week. I've never had to wind it and it has never run down. There are of course no battery issues either ....... closest thing to perpetual motion.

Last watch I owned, was a swatch in 1995. Only one that lasted with body acid. If I need to know the time I look on the top right hand side of the hilux forum page.

Re: What watch do you wear?
In high school was on Swatch.
Started working and switched to Casio - simple, practical, water resistant. Still on Casio for everday use but the G-SHOCK range, seems to survive the work I do, including DIY's, oil, etc.
For running the Garmin Forerunner 405 works well. Can track distance, pace, heart rate, elevation, speed, even has GPS to show actual route. But battery only lasts for 8hrs with heart rate monitor on, so looking at upgrading to Forerunner 310XT which lasts up to 24hrs per charge. What I like about the Garmin range is that it is multi-sport also so switching from running to cycling is easy.

Re: What watch do you wear?
No watch. The ones I really like, I cannot afford. Since cellphones came out with watches I stopped wearing a time-piece on my arm. I am surrounded by clocks on computer screens, in the car, microwave, everywhere.
But a nice Breitling is definitely on my wish list after I win the lotto...

Hennie, your \ Seiko is almost identical to my Citizen 'workhorse' except that the face is a gun-metal grey and the winder is recessed at the 4 o'clock position. Also have a Seiko that I bought in 1970 and used daily till 1993 and it's still going as well, but the raised glass is prone to damage so I never use it any more.HennieO wrote:This is my everyday watch, a gift fom my wife almost 7 years ago...

Quite a long time back a Jeweller friend gave me an old mechanical Rolex that required repairs, but was too costly to repair ..... I should actually hoof it since I will never wear something like that. Too ostentatious, bulky and heavy ..... not my style.

Re: What watch do you wear?
been using Casio for more than 25 years.
SLIM LINE, with no protruding buttons. It gives me time and date.
The strap needs replacement, so now I wear the Polar unit in the interim.
not in a hurry to replace the strap .... arm is too short to read all those small digits ..... VAL no smart comments now !!
but I must say, I MISS the light weight slim line unit.

Re: What watch do you wear?
Chris, I had to replace my strap as well early this year, agents wanted over R850.00 for a new one.....madness!!!!
I trotted around the flea market and there are heaps of cjinese watch stalls. Bought a watch for R80.00 with a similar strap, chucked the face and we are ticking again

Re: What watch do you wear?
You guys hit a nerve know, Love watches and I repair them in my free time alongside antique clocks. I currently have two watches I wear and have a couple of old pocket watches of witch the oldest goes back to 1690.
The first one is normally when i know it is gonna be rough day at work or when we go camping. Casio G-Shock G-7900. And the second one is my Seiko Pilots watch 7T62.

Re: What watch do you wear?
