12v Fridge/Freezer what is the best?
For some time now my dad and I are thinking about getting 2nd 12v fridge freezers to run one as a fridge and the other as a freezer.
I have the Camp Master 40lt and my dad has the Engel 40lt
I would like to have 2 of the same but if I can get a better one while I'm in the market I'll rather do that.
Could we run a poll to see what is the favorite one. I have read up on it quite a bit and know there is a few thing to consider when buying, will be nice to see what is the preferred one under the Hilux community,
They made a good choice in there cars so maybe they will make a good choice in deciding what to use to ensure the beer stays cold

Never had anything else than a Campmaster, all I can say about a Campmaster is that is in my opinion the best value for money and very good quality. My vote: Campmaster.

Wayne, buy the May issue of Drive out.
There is a very good write up on 12v fridges.

I am glad I have an Engel. It served me well for the last 4 years. Its got the lowest power consumption and very good isolation. If I have to buy again it will be an Engel

I've got two stainless steel 52l National Luna Twins. I use one as a freezer and the other as a fridge on long trips or just one as a fridge/freezer on weekend getaways.
I bought the Twins because of the flexibility of running a fridge/freezer in one unit.

If you don't own an FJ Cruiser you probably won't understand...

I will be a bit of a party pooper here .... not Mr Jeep this time.....
How many people have 2 fridges in their vehicles ? ie to do a comparison. And even if you had 2 or 3, you could not really compare them with the others.....if you haven't had at least all of them.
Campmaster / Snowmaster are by far the cheapest and would come out topps in the poll (because they sell more to the public), however that may not necessary be the best.

I have to agree with you OOOMS on this one, for me the toss up would be between the NL and Engel.OOOOMS wrote:

Read somewhere that the NL makes use of a variable speed controller on the compressor, making them more power efficient than the cheaper competitors out there.

jip, same reason why I want a second one, one works well for short trips but on long trips it only worked out if a nother person in the group has a fridge to have one on fridge and the other freezer.

Our Engel 60 combo has broken down three times. Always on a long trip. What a disaster. Repaired free under warranty.
