Baie goeie vriend het 1 van die 4x4 Condor's. Besonders al beindruk as jy kyk waar hy met daai "lelike" ding kan ry.
Hoe kan hy hom nog meer capable maak?
Beplande stap01 is bande, skokbrekers en greasable shackles.
Dan gaan ons vir hom ook 'n packing system bou met my "afval" materiaal.

Dis lekker karre daai. Ek het hulle al so geloer en dit lyk my die probleem met groter bande is dat die bakwerk maar knap om die wiele sit, daar is nie baie spasie nie.

I had one of these amazing vehicles for a few years. It was always entertaining watching peoples faces as we trundled over most obstacles.
In order of priority, changes I made
1. Tyres fitted were 215/75R15. They are the biggest that can fit in the wheel arch without rubbing. We initially had Michelin LTX's on, but changed over to BFG AT's
2. Save SWAMBO heartache and pain and put Camil suspension up front. You seriousl improve the "nosediving" Condors were notorius for. The torsion bars can then be tweaked to lift the nose 25mm further.
3. Our condor came with OME shocks but when they died I replaced with Monroe Gas Magnum in the back, less seesaw, more roadholding.
4. The previous owner had installed an additional 40L tank under the spare wheel carrier, very useful on the longer trips.
If I had the money I would look at the following:
1. Intergrated bumber bullbar from Lynx4x4. Charles does a mean setup.
2. Get Mikem suspension rear.
I built up a rack for the back of the condor to hold six wolfpacks and our three way fridge. If you are interested I need to get rid of it because it doesn't fit the hilux. You can also come pinch some ideas off me when I find the photos and the plans.
Major problem with the diesel was long distance driving was a marathon session as she was geared for low torque and not speed. I did consider installing a KZTE, but offroad it was not really needed.
The only reason we changed to a hilux was the condor was taken off us by some unsavoury characters in an armed robbery.

Ek is bly om te sien daar is vele wat die Condors waardeer en geniet. Ek stem saam, dit is definitief 'n voertuig wat nie op sy baadjie getakseer moet word nie, onder daai bussie dop is 'n ordentlikke 4x4 stelsel.
Ek het aanvanklik die torsion bars opgestel voor (20mm) end die voor en agter skokbrekers vervang met Gabriel Safari. Laastens is die bande vervang met 215R15 Dunlop TrackGrip bande. Grondvry hoogte het heelwat verbeter en ons het tot 4x4 roete so aangedurf. Alles het heel goed gegaan en die bussie het ons baie beindruk.
Die groter bande het my later baie op my senuwees gemaak op die pad, die bussie was meer as normaal onstabiel. Die bande het 'n ballon effek veroorsaak en die bakwerk het te veel gekantel wanneer ons deur skerp draaie gaan. Ek is seker dat indien jy ander wielvellings kon gebruik wat die wielspoor wyer kon maak sou dit die probleem kan oplos, maar die wielrondings van die bakwerk laat dit nie toe nie.
Die bussie is maar "Mom's Taxi" en ry 99% op die pad, daarvoor die besluit om 16 duim vellings met 55 lae profiel bande op te sit. Die ballon effek is weg en bakwerk kantel is dramaties beter. Ongelukkig ry hy 'n bietjie harder, maar ons kan daarmee saamleef.
Ons het die enjin en ratkas vervang met 'n Lexus V8 en die kombinasie van 'n sterk enjin, kort afstand tussen die hak en agterwiele, bakwerk wat die wind goed breek oor die karavaan en sterk onderstel is daar vir die prys min voertuie wat so lekker sleep. My karavaan is 1.4 ton GVM en teen 100 km/u is alles 100% stabiel, self met dwarswinde en groot trokke van voor af.
Fochville Groete en geniet julle Condors terdee.
