EWALD CRUISER

Post by DOELLOOS »

Hi all,

Yes, the time has finally arrived to unveil my new 4x4. For a while there I was considering a Fortuner to replace Chuck, but alas no, it is:

A LAND CRUISER 70 SW

I just don't have the heart for a soft roader, and what can be better than an SFA Hilux or a Cruiser 70?

This is my new project vehicle, and it will make Chuck Norris (which I love dearly) look like Mickey Mouse when I'm done.

Ewald,

That Cruiser is a beaut! I would propose that it would make a suitable stable mate for Bulldog. With that in mind, I eagerly await a visit from you with the Croozer, and I might even swap my SWB Rubber Duck for it!

Congratulations are in order! I suppose that now we are going to lose you to the LLCSA...

Ewald,

Here's a comment I posted some time back:
I love the old NA oil burners so much, I'm seriously considering selling the new Lux, and going back to them.

The LC 70 is attracting a bit more of my attention than I'd like.....

I'm so desperate to get back to the good old oil burners, that I am willing to look past the 20 year old interior, but, and this my dilema.

1) the pickups are only in single cab
2) the stationwagens will do, but
3) 5000km service intervals, with no service plan from Toyota.

As it would have to be my work and play, this leaves me stranded.

Anybody know of someone selling a 2007/2008 LC70 with an upgraded service plan?
Well, guess what, I popped past Toyota the other day, and no vehicle available for test drive, and very little info and interest from the salesman.......

So if you will:

1) Fuel consumption of your 70 LC?
2) On road manners?
3) On road comfortable cruising speed?

There are 2 lovely 2nd hand beauts that keeps my mouth watering and keeps tugging on my left arm......... although common sence is fighting, although a some what loosing battle, on the right arm.

1) I only got it yesterday, will tell you as soon as I know.
2) Very bumpy - needs better suspension and tyres. Otherwise nice and robust, steers easily and the command centre style drivers position is awesome. I like it more than the 2.5 D4D Hilux DC which I drove last year for more than two months. Power is the same as the Hilux, yet far more torquey. I suggest window tinting as a must, the windows lets plenty of sun in.
3) Comfortable cruising - I took it for a spin on the highway yesterday, up to 150 (downhill), and it felt very comfortable at around 120kmh.

Mine will be getting a turbo and intercooler though...
