Gearmax Locker Service

Post by CasKru »

Naas, all I can tell you is that you would require resistors for the LEDs. Depending upon the brightness level you want, you can fit 680 ohm resistors to each LED, but preferably 1k2 (1200 ohm) which should still give plenty of illumination. Each LED draws approximately 20mA, but will still light effectively on half of that - you don't want it too bright.

You only require ½w carbon film resistors, but rather fit 1w resistors, they're cheap enough. Place the resistors and connections in heat-shrink tubing to prevent short-circuits.

I thought the Gearmax D/L drew vacuum from the engine, but I'm probably way off here.

Eric

Thanx for the info, will check out the wiring during the week.

You are a 100% right, the gearmax does use the vacuum from the engine, but there is a small pump thingy, that is activated by the button in the car, to lock or unlock the locker. When the button is pushed there is a red led to indicate that the difflock is activated, and there is then a contact on the locker itself, that completes the sircuit for the green led, once the locker is ingaged and locked, just to show it is locked.

Nothing major, but would like it work like it should.

Maybe the best people to speak to about this is Gearmax? At least, their advice will be trustworthy!

Yes naas.

Sover ek weet is daai 'n 12v Solenoid.
