Wonderful toys they are!

Borg Warner T5 gearbox is virtually indestructible, Ford V6 is the cheapest HP you can get and fibreglass body can't rust, neither can the galvanised chassis.

And it has done very low millage!

Try to negotiate a bit on the price and look it through thoroughly.

And that is just my uneducated opinion!

Those SVM Jeeps are very cool.
A friend bought one recently as a challange vehicle project.
I think he got a real bargain at R47k. His still needed some TLC though.

Ok so that gearbox is well know - how will you ever know anyways if it hasent got that make, if the motor needs doing what will it cost to do rings and bearings etc, just thinking aloud, that engine section looks like hell, needs a radiator as it seems rusted on top to start with. The engine needs a good steam clean, and who knows what else you will find. I sent a mail, but it will need a closer look.

BUT it does look nice, the price with that kilos seems ......... I dont know. Those things are hard to put a value on or a set price, they are only worth what people want to pay I guess, as they have no set book value.

on the cost or redoing those motors, those are one of the cheapest motors to redo!!
they do have potential, and if built correctly can give years of fun!!

when doing such a motor all depends on how far one goes!!
weather one just does rings bearing and a gasket set or one goes all the way with new pistons and engineering !!
would say from R2000 upwards, depending on what all one does!!

word of advice, on those motors, use ONLY Payen gaskets!!

Can't remember what chassis they used but they used the standard ford motor.

Yes, Piet is correct. They were built like that by some SA company, so it isn't a real Jeep with a Ford motor in. But that's about all I can remember......

I had one that was built on a Hilux chassis with a Ford v6 motor in it. It was a fantastic little toy..

Thanks Thys, I was about the say that if my memory serves me correctly (which it seldom does) it was built on a hilux chassis with Frod motor and Borg Warner gearbox. You could buy it ready built or in kit form.
I remember the newspaper article in the rapport they smacked the body with a 4 pound hammer to show how strong the fiber glass body was.

Yes this is a SVM my dad also has one. This one is one of the older models and I think it still has the cable opperated difflock. The V6 engin is the standard moter that they had in. very capable. The price looks a bit steep R55k to R60k is a good price. The reason they are so expincive is because they are so raer.

Brandstofverbruik: K&k So tussen 5 en 7 km/l afhangend van bestuurstyl.
Hier by ons is alle onderdele behalwe bakwerkonderdele "pirate" vrylik beskikbaar.
Ford het die 3,0l engine van die mark af gehaal en van al hulle onderdele ontslae geraak. Meeste van die onderdele kan jy nog by gewone onderdelewinkels kry, maar moenie dink jy gaan iets soos 'n krukas of nokas nuut te koop kry nie.
En, vir interessantheid, eienaarskap van 'n SVM kwalifiseer vir lidmaatskap by die Jeep Club van SA
