Re: Jou 1ste Toyota
Ja, I too have mostly stuck to Toyota (read "played it safe") since my very 1st car.
#1: 1978 1200 Corolla - Like yours Marius, but the 4-door, in baby blue
#2: 1991 1600 Sprinter - Red. Lots of FUN. My sister in-law still drives that car today, over 400,000kms and the engine has not been opened yet
#3: 2000 1.6i Sprinter - Metallic Grey. Only kept that for 1 year. Tell-tale signs of a previous smash gradually started to show.
#4: 2004 RunX 1.6iRS - Black. My 1st out-of-the-box purchase. Very nice Car. Served me well so far. The wife drives it now.
#5: 1989 4Y d/c Hilux - Red. My 1st 4x4. Loved it to bits. Not SWAMBO friendly though
#6; 1996 22R d/c Hilux - Blue. My current pride & Joy

Re: Jou 1ste Toyota
1. 1987 1.3L Toyota Corolla (Avante Shape), 4 speed 50kW, Thouroughly abused by me and it took the punishment with a smile. Written off after accident with a taxi.
2. 1990 Gli TwinCam, still have it though it is a toy, comes out seldom especially on my birthdays. Fully refurbished paintwork, suspension, shocks and brakes, custom sound, will beat any mordern 1600 any day. 428 000km on the clock.
3. 1800 Stallion, 2nd generation after the one with a metal dash, used it for business and was very strong, can't remember the year. Sold it early this year.
4. 1994 160i Corolla, initially bought it for my mother but she's battling with her lisence so i use it as a day to day, still strong as a bull, they tried to steal it a couple of times with no luck and it is still with me.
5. 2002 KZ-TE, also my toy and still standard and under construction to add the gadgets bit by bit.
So ya, Toyota is my life!

Re: Jou 1ste Toyota
I was always a GM & VW guy, but got this as a company car "hand me down" in 1981.
Same Colour, 2-litre engine. Slow as hell, used to really have to push it to reach 120km/hr. But all the luxuries and the Bosch headlights stood back for nothing, they were excellent!

Re: Jou 1ste Toyota
Mine was an early 70's Corona MK2 bakkie.
My grand dad bought it new to use on his farm. My dad inhererited it. I bough it from my dad while I was a studying for R2000. It was my pride and joy. Then it got stolen while I was on a date with my girlfriend ( wife to be ). I had to phone the cops to come and take a statement and take me home in the cheese van at 03h00 in the morning
That thing was as tough as nails. I was 10 when my grand dad let me drive it and use it to push over ant hills with the front chrome bumper. The ant hills were then loaded on the back and dropped in the yard for the chickens to eat the ants. Also used in the veld to bring the cattle back to the kraal. Just drove every where with it. Bumped the slow cows on the arse to help them get a move on.
