Brandstof toevoer sisteem : 7MGE
Ek het so 'n paar maande gelede 'n 7MGE ombouing voltooi op my 1989 Hilux DC 2.2.
Dit vat so drie to vier keer se probeer slae voor hy behoorlik vat.

Re: Brandstof toevoer sisteem : 7MGE
Hi Wessels, I had the same problem. There are a few things to check.
1. Check that the tank's breather is open because sometimes there is no air in the tank and the pump is trying to pull fuel against a suction. After you have driven the bakkie and you stop, open the fuel cap and see if it sucks in air. If it does then that's your problem. Make sure your breather pipe runs up between the cab and the bak and put a small fuel filter on it and support it at the highest point.
If it still does it then you need to check the pressure regulator on the fuel injection at the back of the motor. It is a round thingy with a grey plastic top. That can be faulty. I changed mine and it runs like a dream. you can get the part from toyota.

Thanks Gunta,
Will check the breather and regulator. As far as I could determine, the tank's breather seemed to be fine, but I will just make double sure.

Thanks for the advice guys. I checked the breather. All seems fine there. Will just check the hole in the cap as well.
The regulator you are referring to Gunta, is that the fuel pressure regulator? If so, I replaced it with a brand new Toyota product whilst doing the conversion (took me a while to remember that LOL)
I drove the Hilux for about three days last week to work and back and also noticed that while stationary and engine idling smoothly it will suddenly start to idle unevenly (even sometimes sounds as if it runs only on on cylinder) and then either even out again as if nothing is wrong or completely cut out. If you start it again, it will do so without hassles and idle smoothly again. It is almost if the system gets a sudden tiny airlock which works its way through the pipes till it reaches the injectors - what is strange if this is the case, is that the pump does not cavitate.

Yes it is the fuel pressure regulator. What management system are you using?
sounds like it might be running a bit lean. could also be a vacuum pipe that has a hole in it.

I was also runing the dictator and had similar problems. Have you had it set properly and by whom? I have since gone back to the OEM management and I bought a airflow meter from Toyota and it works like a bomb. I had to many problems with gotech and dictator. They work in a race car but are not practical for what we are doing. How is your fuel consumption?

I had to many problems with gotech and dictator. Hey Jaco, I like your new avatar. I know you are happy with the gotech. What did it cost you to fit the 2jz with the engine and do you know what power you are getting on it. :)
