New member, hi to all.
Hi every one
As you can see, I’m a new bee.
Me and my wife recently purchased our first 4x4, a Fortuner D4D secondhand.
My father introduced me and my brothers to Toyota and the veld at a very young age. We lived in Mesina at that stage of our life, with regular visits to Zimbabwe across the border and the Kruger National Park almost a neighbor to our farm. At that stage my dad drove a Land Cruiser Series 40 pickup with camping and 4x4ing being pretty primitive.
Almost every Sunday we would go for braai’s at the hunters camp site on the farm. It was situated on the bank of a sand sloot. Befor heading home me and my brothers would always try and dig out the sand from under the Cruiser with the hopes of it becoming stuck so we wouldn’t have to go to school the next day.
We then sold the Cruiser to a family friend and my dad decided to buy a Land rover TD5 as he couldn’t afford a new Cruier. Me and my dad built a roof rack for the landy and soon we were back in Pietersburg to install our new roof top tent, unfortunately on the way back home our DIY roof rack let go of the tent. We only noticed when we got home.
I must say we had fun in this vehicle as we didn’t even have to try and make the car get stuck in the sand sloot, it just did. At that stage the turbo diesel engine just didn’t have enough torque for sand driving. But as I said, to us children it was fun, holidays always seemed longer as the landy always broke. It also had an amazingly low diesel usage, but that was probably because we were towed more often than driving.
After a accident the landy was written of, and my dad finaly got to go back to his trusty Land Cruiser. It was a Series 70 Pickup D at that stage
When I was 8 we moved to Johannesburg. Unfortunately there is no reen spinnekoppe or sand sloot in Joburg but the Toyota is still here.
A week before I collected my Fortuner my dad once again bought a Land Cruiser, this time a Series 76 and it only comes in Diesel, but that’s the way he likes it.
So now I’ve got my first Toyota and my own journey starts now.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!
